We did say this was going to be a big issue, with inflating away the debt, it helps the Government budget bottom line, but it hurts those who aren't in the housing market.
Possibly bring in the the ability for home buyers to claim their interest, but also cap the amount and introduce CGT on PPR, may be an option.

What I think we need is an honest, accurate measure of inflation.
It's beyond ridiculous to not include house prices as a big component of CPI. Purchasing a house is after all the single largest financial decision most individuals will make and it's also one that's very directly impacted by interest rates.
Trouble is, if that were done then it'd force and admission that the true rate of inflation is quite a bit higher than official statistics suggest which, ultimately, is the real backstory to most of today's problems. An awful lot can be traced back to inaccurate measurement of inflation given so many decisions are made either directly or indirectly based on that data.

Did anyone watch the debate last night? I forgot to stock up on both anti-nausea and antidepressant pills, so skipped it for something less confronting, like a graphic documentary on the Armenian genocide.

About Albo ? He has built up a property portfolio. Nothing like Peter Duttons or with the blatant conflict of interest situations.

How long for this to show here after reading the ABC ?
That party is the main left party btw, not a minor extremist branch.so the ALP equivalent, not the Green nuts.
All that to say that 2025 Australian Left is so far removed from the Hawke Keating years it is not funny....
But maybe the ALP should win, if only to take responsabilities of its own mess with the grid, taxation and debt, etc
Voted today in a good spirit Local hall.

@qldfrog Mr frog it would appear that the peasantry as a whole would rather vote early going by the numbers as seen on the TV news. When we voted on polling opening day in Midland there were plenty of people inside and out, and from what I was told by bloke controlling the show, would probably be a record turnout for day 1.

Using the term progressive anywhere to describe the Green is an absolute paradox when a Neanderthal lifestyle is their aim, and an offence to intelligence.
And conservative is supposedly backward while conservation of landscapes, biodiversity and resources, languages are supposed to be a civilisational target .
