Unfortunately we aren't perfect. Tax system needs correction. Apprentices not being trained properly especially in small businesses.
I reckon Australia does better than many as we have a democracy but we have to do better as the world goes autocratic.
The reason we signed up for the nucleur subs was to get protection aka Mafia.

Sorry being grumpy. Going in for an eye operation. Lense replacement Won't need glasses anymore. Had to go into work this morning and its a stressful job. On leave now for nearly 2 weeks.

Hope it goes well, apparently they do a lot, so it shouldn't go wrong.
A mate had his done about a month ago, he can't believe the improvement in his vision, you will have to let us know how it goes.

Same as SP hopefully routine and all goes well had my right eye done after a detached retina lucky to keep my eye sight in that eye, we live in incredible times such is modern medical technology plus we have access to it unlike many others around the world won 1st prize being born Australian (extra points for WA born
....sorry just cannot help it)One thing about my own lens replacement the new one is like led lighting color old one is incandescent colour.
Brain sorts it all out cannot tell the difference after a week or so.

I was booked for cataract surgery in Jan of this year, but the leaking heart valve had to come first. The eye operation is on hold for the time being. I still have about18/20 vision long and short, so not that sure if I am paving thr way for an overseas holiday for the surgeon.

So we end up with Albo and Dutton, they may well be terrific people, but IMO neither has the vision or the aptitude required for today's issues.
The list of areas that have derailed in Australia is extremely long and I can't see anyone addressing any of them, just band aid fixes for structural problems.
Albo says he has always been underestimated, I don't think so, IMO it is just that there is no longer any competition for him to face in his own party or in the opposition.
What a shocking state of affairs IMO.
Anyone with ability and intelligence would stay well away from a political career, there is better things to do with their lives, than having to toe the media line.

Yes, these days no matter what the issue, the political answer is "it needs more money", rather than is this the best way to do this.
Outcomes in most fields have been falling in relation to other countries, yet we continue with the same structures, despite it failing.
Obviously addressing the root causes, is put in the too hard basket and the media only want politicians they can run circles around to lift ratings.
It really is, just a mess.

The other thing is that the two sides make the hard decisions toxic and impossible to implement.
Take negative gearing. I was opposed to any changes to this for many years, but as the housing crisis has gone from bad to worse, I've come around to the view that negative gearing needs to be changed.
As we can see from the last few days, each side has made it impossible for the other to propose any changes. Bi-partisan support for something that is difficult but might benefit the country just doesn't happen these days.

I don't think it is party specific, if that were the case there would be a clear vision ahead and there obviously isn't, our education system is a mess, our trade training system is a mess, our taxation system is a mess.
Fossil fuel isn't going anywhere fast and it has nothing to do with either party, the renewables are still developing as the current Government is finding out.
You can't move faster than the technology allows, it was around 2017 that S.A was going to put in the world's largest concentrated solar salt storage generator, until they found out they don't work that well.
Half the problems we have is everyone blaming everyone else, rather than admitting that they actually may be heading down the wrong track, or going too fast.
Tribal politics and politicians allowing ideology to override all else, is the problem.
Fossil fuel isn't the problem, finding the way to remove it is, the easiest way for business to remove it is to shut down and move the processing to another country.
With generation, labor is finding that saying something is easier than actually doing something, technology can't be rushed just because you say it will happen doesn't mean it will. And it is nothing to do with the Greens, hydrogen production isn't available, when ideology thought it would be.
It would be terrific if hydrogen was available in abundance, it would solve a lot of the problems that we are facing, getting rid of fossil fuel. But it aint.

Federal Labor says Snowy Hydro could proceed with building a new power plant in the Hunter Valley if it wins the upcoming election – but insists the plant should be powered entirely by green hydrogen, instead of gas, by 2030.
The opposition leader, Anthony Albanese, and the shadow climate change minister, Chris Bowen, are expected to make the announcement during a campaign visit to the electorate of Paterson on Tuesday.
Guardian Australia understands Labor wants the proposed gas “peaking” plant to be powered by 30% hydrogen at the time it becomes operational, promised by next year, and 50% by 2025 and 100% by 2030.

The only way I can see out of the mess is to make political parties illegal.
Candidates would then have to stand on their own merits and we can sort the wheat from the chaff a lot easier.
