Australian Federal Election 2025

Clear signs that the Coalition is out of touch and starting to panic.

They've been out of touch since the Miserable Ghost was PM.

The only possible worse outcome than the coalition winning is for this government to be returned ;)

The AUpeso is collapsing and our leaders and population are worried about working from home. :roflmao:

Heads still in the sand with the economy which is entirely based on the housing ponzi scheme and reliance on metal exports to a country which is being hammered with tariffs. Good thing is that we can now entirely pivot to a service based economy as the aud will probably be worth 5 cents US in a year or two and tourism will reign supreme. They'll be flying from Bali to Perth to vacation on Cottesloe beach. Baristas can work from home part time with their free TAFE AI degrees operating espresso machines remotely.

As I've said on numerous occasions, the coalition are an unelectable rabble and is the only reason Albo will be returned.
It really is a sad situation, when the political benches on both sides of the house are completely bereft of any talent, as they are at the moment.

When in My opinion the choices available are between Chaos, or Disaster, choose your poison.

Yep, Australian politics needs a reality check, big time.

It wouldn't be so bad if we were actually doing that.

In truth it's far worse - we're mostly not selling metal, just the dirt.

If we actually were selling refined aluminium etc then that'd at least be an improvement, it brings a lot more money into the country than just selling the dirt.

(We do export some metals but mostly it's just the ore).

Well Smurf,it wasn't as though you weren't calling this, about 12 months ago.

From the article:

On Monday, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said “the world has changed”.

“Globalisation is over and we are now in a new Europe,” Sir Keir said.

Just leaving this right here

Hard time for the parties to get any air.

The ordinary voter will just know if you vote Coalition you get cheaper petrol, vote Labor you get a tax cut.

The only other Coalition cut through was the no working from home for public servants and that just scared the punters. So that got axed.

The Labor cheap batteries for the home was something for the middle class.
Thought there would be some big announcement in reply from the Libs.

I think most people are just meh about this election. I know I am. Maybe that's a good thing.

Its a surreal election Trump is crashing markets declaring trade wars on everyone neither side wants to talk about policy that will address it all.

I always thought Dutton was unelectable...... thought that about Abbott and Trump too :roflmao:

@IFocus We have a new Federal Seat called Bullwinkle with a couple of new candidates standing for red and blue parties.
Being a cattle producer I fired off an email awhile ago to both the Lab and Lib candidates seeking their personnel view, not the party spiel line on the live export trade.
To date neither have bother to respond.
On the other hand the Nats candidate did in pretty quick time, giving both hers and the party line which were one of the same.
Looks as if the Nats might get 2 more votes this time around.

Brother who still has friends / contacts in the sheep / abattoir game all recon the export kerfaffle is just vested interests often the Abs cannot fill their quoters I don't think cattle are affected (could be wrong haven't been following ). Nats do represent the farmers in WA at least better IMHO.
Great to hear you are getting better just came back through SA, south of Port Augusta a farmer was telling me driest in 20 years buying feed just to keep their breeding stock was costing $100k every couple of months poor buggars.

@IFocus At the present time cattle aren't affected, but it will be on the radar of the green leafy burbs of Sydney and Melbourne so they can have that warm fuzzy feeling about doing their bit to save the red meat industry, to get it canned also.
One of the downsides when it comes to farming no rain, dry dams and bought in feed.

Travelling down the South Coast NSW fat cattle standing in paddocks full of knee high green feed blew me away, really is Gods country area.

Telling my brother.... his eyes just went all starry Haha.

My sister has a cattle farm at Boyup Brook, I will have to ask her how it is going down there.

@IFocus Mine would also. dry and dusty paddocks is the norm for us at present.

Yep, extremely dry in SA indeed the 4 months December - March has been the driest on record for some parts of the state. Map from BOM:

Metropolitan Adelaide still has plenty of water although that's partly due to reverse osmosis, more commonly known as desalination.

Contrary to media reports and political commentary it's not running flat out, desalination ran at 59% capacity on average during March. It could be run harder if need be so there's no cause for panic (or water restrictions) for those with access to water from the metropolitan supply system. Storage is presently at 37% - not great but it's adequate all things considered.

The problem being for those not in the urban area or near the Murray (which has plenty in it at the moment) or served by a pipeline from either. They're a bit stuffed...... :2twocents
