Just wondering what peoples views, thoughts, experiences and thoughts are of HotCopper??

My experience is it can get very hot and nasty on some threads and can be a good place to learn self control.

HC is not a good place to learn about trading or investing IMO.

Fortunately we have ASF for doing that so I no longer bother with the nonsense elsewhere.

yer, so far all your replies are right in regards to my experience. I found out that as soon as you make a reasonable basis for your differing opinion just anybody will come on and just abuse you and even if challenged to to base why they believe what they say they will continue to absolutely abuse, but not everyone was like that.

Not to be entirely dismissed.

Its strength lies in the the sheer number of posters.

I find that if an obscure stock suddenly does something out of the ordinary HC is often the quickest reference since you can bet there is a poster there who is familiar with the stock, has some idea of what's going on, and is keen to tell the world.

Of course what they post may or may not be entirely accurate but at worst the info is worth what you're paying for it

Some of the worst posters i came across on hotcopper were LABRINTH,javip, jockstar and i could name a few others but i dont have access at the moment to get their names as i have been suspended.

Well Ice, I never put one poster on ignore i stood there and took all the c**p that you could possible take......actualy the most nastiest poster i came across was Dimmo and i thought i was arguing with a guy and it as a she.

She actually did provide any type of stock analysis it was basically if you dont go by what she says then you were on the hit list, it got so bad the moderator immidietly began to delete all the posts.

She thought it was a smart idea of a woman to marry a man and then divorce him quick and get the assets...sh eeven made note of targeting individuals who were employed at the companies she wanted to get information about and get herself into a position to go out for coffee or whatever and get em talking about what is going on...she was on the Senetas thread....

lol....it was never a secret that i was equity on h/c but i think it is good that we can have a good, balanced and fair discussion of experiences that we have on h/c and at least we can come here and get a bit of sanity......it was actually good to cross to h/c and inbetween lectures and tutorials at uni i would take the other students and we would go on to h/c and they got a good laugh at the stuff that was going on....they were actually quite shocked at what people would say to one another over a stock and it became a way to break up the boredom.

It's good for a laugh sometimes, but you certainly wouldn't take any notice of 98% of the rampers , sorry, posters on there.

Goblin is great, a real comedian and of course our favourite, the one and only Mr.Chicken posts as Dwecke 2000 as well.If you get stressed sat in front of your computer it can be therapeutic looking at all the so called traders on there trying to ramp/deramp with each other.

You have to be a bit :screwy: to take that site seriously.
