In a country of construction labour shortages, can a robot bring down building costs?

or instead of going all the way robot in the estate, go to assembly line with pre built or even Precast slab raised or preset wall panels
there are do many alternatives even
lego like polystyrene blocks filled with concrete
but we are small in population, widely spaced and backward thinking mostly.
moreover the cowboy builder can get away with some of the red tape, bureaucracy, union and H&S nightmare no bigger industrial company can..
if you check the cost to build/move in a prebuilt 2 bedroom cottage on your own land, you will quickly how mad pricing is here in Australia

Maybe part of the problem is that a lot of people want specially designed homes to suit their own purposes (and egos maybe) and don't want to buy "off the shelf".

Renters wouldn't care but long term owner occupiers are fussier I reckon.

when looking at a 2 bedroom cottage to add to the farmlet, i could not care less yet 300k minimum , and higher rates, insurances, etc etc
no ROI on that so **** it
we are trying to rent the space for a tiny house.application in front of council.as usyal, council is the roadblock/delay/denial/costs
housing issue is a council and bureaucracy man made issue

Been looking at a holiday place in cairns lately. There seems to be a LOT of places up for sale there at the moment. Anyone familiar with the area/able to explain why?

unfamiliar with FNQ real estate, maybe ask @Garpal Gumnut .?
i know that Sunshine Coast/ Noosa hinterland has more sellers recently and prices have been flat to slightly down in the past year.
Still Qld, a lot of lifestyle holiday offers but suspect Cairns needs specific local knowledge
good luck 🤞

Its always been like that. You could pick up a place a couple minutes walk from the centre for about $180k back in the day.
Was a bit of a dead end town to live I was told.

Lots of aboriginals stuck on the streets there at the moment.

I heard that above $1.3million homes are selling a lot slower in certain areas.

I just reno'd one that sold in about 2 weeks at $830k so that price is still moving.
It would have sold week 1 but the first home owners couldn't afford the mortgage insurance.

Im seriously wondering if young Australians are giving up. Government has to import people to keep the ponzi going.
I suspect there will be backlash against property investors and rightly so.

Also, aboriginals? In cairns?
Was heaps on the streets caught in drug and alcohol trap (more than usual). Apparently they were coming to Cairns for a reason (medical treatment maybe, cant remember) and then getting stuck there.

I think the police did a surge so not sure now (my info is a year old). Locals were saying break ins were common.

If its a holiday home and you are leaving stuff in there, depending on the area:
Window shutters

Heavy duty iron screen doors. Not that cheap sht mesh you can cut with a pair of tin snips.

I think its all tin roofs up there but steer away from tile roofs. They just push up the tiles and go through the manhole.

According to Bob Katter when you vote to have a dry community it causes all of the people who like a drink to move to the cities and towns.

Because they no longer have a home they live on the streets and in the parks.

This may have happened in Cairns and other similar places
Cairns, Darwin, and Townsville, all the same. They get brought in for petty crimes to the courts and never return home.
