i have a market filter so i don't get into the ASX all the time. so i could trade more often, i thought of trading US shares (when the filter allows me too, would mean that i have some ASX and some US shares going at the same time). although both markets seem correlated at times. by doing this i would have more positions out there. but is this a good thing to do?? some advantages are that i'm trading more often, and that i get exposed to a better performing market (US).

Why not? It allows you to trade the strong stocks in a strong market. Correlation with AU has broken down with the resources rout, and the us provides some alternatives to the aussie resource heavy market.

i don't know. they do seem correlated. and the asx seems very volatile, whipping up and down steeply which could cause initial stops to get triggered often maybe (still learning).

any other opinions out there? i had thought when one market is down i could increase my trading opportunities by trading the other . but their very correlated. even if one market is 'up' according to the market filter, it will still probably range or slightly ascend rather than being truly up.
