That is a big issue, we have four kids and eight grandkids, who are all happy with their lot.As i am far too well aware, the family is a big influencer..to each his her own
Good luck
Yea I feel Rich in Thailand but I/You are a second class citizen....
So downsize, be a sheep, join the bandwagon, big RV, NDIS, pensioners card, , trip to Bali Fidji Thailand to feel rich
...
To live in, for the time being indeed, i heartily agree, one of the top placesYea I feel Rich in Thailand but I/You are a second class citizen.
Work ended badly And I had 48 hours to "Flee" Thailand.
In Cambodia visiting the Ankor Wat.
Going back to Thailand soon to sort **** out.
Talking to lots of different nationalities, Australia is still the best place on earth if you have the finances and close friends to surround yoursself with.
.
Will be Back in OZ around August. in time for the worst of winter. :-(
Totally agree re business unless you are top of your game.To live in, for the time being indeed, i heartily agree, one of the top places
To earn , create a business ,be taxed now or worse to lock yourself for the next 2 decades I would strongly disagree.
You have to tell us more about your Thai work experience
Short version or detailed one as you feel free
I would indeed , be amazed because those now , poor people had already lived through15 years of the socialist rot that Mitterrand set in place around 1980 . Not many people outside the country know that France once had the 2nd highest GDP per capita in the world , only a decade before that , I think it was .You would be amazed at the number of French people who told me that "best place on earth" about France 30y ago
In my teens, french GDP was higher than Switzerland.. socialism works very well in sharing povertyI would indeed , be amazed because those now , poor people had already lived through15 years of the socialist rot that Mitterrand set in place around 1980 . When I began school , germans were still using the centuries - old expression " leben wie Gott in Frankreich " and during my childhood , I honestly thought it meant that literally . ( Such was the attraction . ) Yanks I knew later on , in my American Dream phase, drooled about France . Probably got the disease from reading too much Hemingway . That was their number one destination to " live the life of Riley " .
Wish you all the best MikeTotally agree re business unless you are top of your game.
My Thai expirience has a bit to play out. I'll wait but will update.
I am OK though... Only because I am lucky enough to retire. If I came here depending on the Job
a - I'd handle a few things differently
b- I'd be in trouble because what they did to me was really Nasty.
c- I'd take things further to the department of Labour. (apparently, they are strict on Companies complying to the Labour Laws)
This is what really irks me. We in the west have this fetish for being-anti racist or what Prof. Gad Saad terms "suicidal empathy" (the subject of his upcoming book)... Which really amounts to a self-loathing and anti-white racism.Yea I feel Rich in Thailand but I/You are a second class citizen.

that's a couple of generations of Critical Theory for you. This is what really irks me. We in the west have this fetish for being-anti racist or what Prof. Gad Saad terms "suicidal empathy" (the subject of his upcoming book)... Which really amounts to a self-loathing and anti-white racism.
@UMike From my perspective here in the West, winter has been cancelled due to a lack of interest.Yea I feel Rich in Thailand but I/You are a second class citizen.

@wayneL When I was hospital recently the nursing staff consisted of a wide ranging mix of nurses from many countries, either they were immigrants or born here .This is what really irks me. We in the west have this fetish for being-anti racist or what Prof. Gad Saad terms "suicidal empathy" (the subject of his upcoming book)... Which really amounts to a self-loathing and anti-white racism.
Meanwhile the non-western world is quite comfortable being totally racist tw4ts.
Yes, but Chile Argentina would be a no go for us
Interesting question!Why is that @qldfrog ?
Thanks. As much as I think Javier has been awesome, there is the spectre that if he loses next time, things could revert to the previous s4itshow, or perhaps even worse. Then there are cultural/language differences, even if "I" would probably find that easy to pick up quickly (having learned Spanish in childhood and would have a head start), I doubt Mrs would.Interesting question!
If Lepen wins power in France tomorrow, would you move to Provence?
I wish Argentina especially and its new leader the best but both countries have a deep rotten collectivist/socialist psyche of taking whatever the neighbours have , a non work culture and an arrogant cultural superiority syndrome on the University educated clueless elite very similar to the ....French one.
Sure better than the Bogan culture of some oie oie oie, and we are heading that way too but not exactly pleasant to live in when you are a foreigner and able to take a step back to judge
Argentina has also been plagued by illegal migration , at least of the same culture ,,, but nevertheless economically taxing.
It's only after Argentina was literally starving and women there selling their bodies for a few USD to pay the monthly bid that Javier was elected.
I wish him good but the gangrene is too advanced and unlikely to be sorted during my life expectancy
If you buy an hacienda there, you can face squatters who can claim their grandfathers were living in the area and so will be entitled to stay by red judges..ring a bell?
Interesting place to visit...maybe not to live permanently imho or maybe a unit in Buenos Aires or Santiago with metal door and lock
Argentina also has an issue with taxation overseas, asset taxation once you are resident with potential for double taxation and citizenship is for life.
Not a world nomad dream IMHO.
I hope to travel to Argentina a fair bit from Panama and might change my view .
Chile for sure, where i have been a little bit, will only be short visits.
Remember Chile was the only country in the world worse than Australia in locking down its citizens longer during the Covid scam.
Yes, there was worse...
Anyway, opinions are made to be changed, and would be happy to be proven wrong as on paper and outside government system, Argentina country side would be ideal for me
