Curious about something lets say for example I was a financial adviser and I proved it. Would I be able to start a thread saying I would answer everyone's questions regarding what stocks are good and what are not so good?

As long as it abided by the site rules and T&C's, and you disclosed everything legally, and it was cleared by Joe (site owner) then it would probably be ok. The compliance side of giving legal advice of the Internet for a licensed advisor would be tricky imo

RG 162, ASIC's Regulatory Guideline concerning internet discussion sites makes it very clear that licensed financial advisers are not permitted to post as a licensed investment adviser. Nor is anyone permitted to post as the representative of a licensed adviser.
They can participate, but not as licensed financial advisers. i.e. They cannot provide advice on forums such as ASF.
You can find the relevant part of RG 162 in section D, specifically RG 162.41, which states:
no-one is permitted to make postings as a licensed investment adviser, or as a representative of a licensed adviser;
In fact, we are required to disclose this fact to ASF members, and you will see a notice, consisting of four points, below the text box every time you post.
