Hardly surprising.... The multiplier effect would be much greater compared to the crowds seen in nightclubs of late. From yesterday:
https://www.theaustralian.com.au/ne...r/news-story/197ffe79f3e0044be2ee1495c5708364
Snip: Victorian health authorities have confirmed a link between two COVID-19 cases in people who attended the Black Lives Matter protest in Melbourne’s CBD just over a month ago, and the cluster of at least 242 cases in public housing towers in the city’s inner northwest.
Factually that seems to be true to my understanding. So no argument there. They actually showed that wearing masks is an effective barrier to transmission.
These protests happened across the nation and all The Australian was able to muck rake over a month after the events was the fact that a few people who participated lived in a Victorian hotspot.
Wearing a mask wouldn't be effective in a crowd like in those protests.Factually that seems to be true to my understanding. So no argument there.
Pragmatic reality however is that being seen walking into the bush on a 45 degree day carrying a jerry can full of petrol in one hand and a box of matches in the other is going to arouse an awful lot of suspicion and even more so when someone notices the fire an hour later.
That scenario is essentially what's happened here. They may well be completely innocent but they're standing there with the box of matches and the fire raging behind them so it sure isn't a good look regardless of the facts.
Well I don't know about protests, but last Thursday while entertaining 5 grandkids I took them to scitec, an absolute idiot on the next table was sneezing.Wearing a mask wouldn't be effective in a crowd like in those protests.
All it takes is 1 sick person with a mediocre mask in that crowd and he will infect his neighbour. Not everyone wore masks anyway.
So a few out-breaths or a sneeze dispersing droplets up to 8m is enough to start a "bush fire" as you describe. Or just a few wondering hands or fingers. That's why distancing is so important.
And wearing a mask wouldn't protect the eyes, ears or other orifices of an innocent bystander. That would be like wearing a raincoat while swimming in the ocean and expecting not to get wet!
Yep well times that by a factor of 100 fcukwits (or people who have no idea) in a massive crowd.Well I don't know about protests, but last Thursday while entertaining 5 grandkids I took them to scitec, an absolute idiot on the next table was sneezing.
Well to cut a long story short, Monday I was in a queue at Fiona Stanley hospital getting a covid check, which proved negative, but today the grandson is in bed with the flu also.
You can't help fluckwits.
But they are entitled to be there.
You make your comments without evidence.Wearing a mask wouldn't be effective in a crowd like in those protests.

I don't need evidence. As someone pointed out to you, it's basic common sense; a mask isn't a guarantee. All your arguments are circular because of your incessant and unhelpful "evidence" comments. You make your comments without evidence.
Mask wearing in Tokyo's crowded subway system - over 8 million passenger journeys per day - has proven extremely effective. BLM protests pale into insignificance when compared to what has been happening day in, day out, for months in Chinese (over 10 million trips per day in Beijing alone) and Japanese subways.
However, as @IFocus's post above points out, the thread is fake news and serves only to amplify the poor journalism which gets syndicated to brainwash the braindead.
If you have nothing other than your personal opinion to back up your comments, they really have no merit.I don't need evidence. A mediocre mask or a contaminated one would just make the situation worse anyway i.e. of potentially making infection more rampant. A mask won't protect eyes or ears either and won't stop a wandering touch contaminating surfaces or others.
Fake news or not, the protest crowds especially given the timing were illustrative enough of their detrimental nature.
Those are you personal opinions too. So follow your own advice and shut it.If you have nothing other than your personal opinion to back up your comments, they really have no merit.
The BLM protester known to test positive wore a mask. No further infections are traceable to him.
If you wear a mask it is nearly impossible to spread droplets or produce an aerosol effect.
If your argument has legs then the AFL crowd last night at Optus stadium falls into the same camp as the BLM protests, except that we know a large number at BLM protests did wear masks.
Red rob's thinking is all or nothing. He thinks it all starts and ends with a mask.According to redrob's (et al) logic...
I'm going to go speeding through a school zone at 260 km per hour.
Nobody got killed so that's completely ok.
Dangerous? Could've killed somebody's 8 to girl?
FAKE NEWS!!!
Come on Robbie you apparently do seem to have a brain, try using it.
External links showing your personal opinions lack merit have nothing to do with what I think. Those are you personal opinions too. So follow your own advice and shut it.
The so-called or so-determined BLM protestor got lucky or those around, even luckier.
Again wearing a mask is no guarantee. Infected people are made to ISOLATE themselves just like those massive numbers are now in Victoria!
Those Infected are not encourage to go out into crowds to spread their illnesses. Again, they are told or made to isolate like those in the towers of Victoria. Else they would be wandering among us.
Your strawman arguments are not helpful.According to redrob's (et al) logic...

What is this?An analogy is not a strawman argument, Rob
It is most certainly not my logic.According to redrob's (et al) logic...
Back at you: external links showing your personal opinions lack merit have nothing to do with what I think.External links showing your personal opinions lack merit have nothing to do with what I think.
You seem to have overlooked the basic fact that we know that asymptomatic spread occurs.
Try following your logic to justify large crowds now be allowed at sporting events.
