Australian Federal Election 2025

You really think so?

The ABC and the Guardian represent the Left, Sky and Murdoch represent the Right, no one represents the Centre, just like politics.
My view:
20y aged thinking...i still can not believe how deep this is in ingrained, and so wrong in 2025,: must have been bloody true and deep 30y ago or us that 50y ago
Murdoch press is pushing the CC scam like mad, and Sky does offer some non ALP push but they are full WEF puppets, and in 2025, WEF is what current left stands for.
Murdoch representation of Trump is as caricatural as the ABC,
Vance speech to the EU, Miran breaking down detailed analysis of Trump tariffs policies and the effort to get the US away from bankruptcy are available to all.
But media silence, just Trump is a clown ..
Would be really good for our older members to have a reality check and wake up to what the old right vs left of the 1990s has become.
You can keep thinking ALP is supporting workers freedom etc if you wish, and LNP is for free enterprise..but do not be surprised when reality hits on both sides

It was a serious question.

We have a lot of the stuff, the challenge is to use it for our benefit not just dig it up and ship it O/S.
My view is if someone wants to buy then it’s entirely rational to seriously consider being the supplier.

As one random example the world’s largest fully electric ferry was just launched in Tasmania a few days ago. That’s a product for export, bringing money into Australia.

Incat would just as willingly have built that ship with diesel or gas engines if that’s what the customer wanted. Most Incat built ships in the past have been diesel and they’ve also built vessels with gas engines to suit customer requirements.

That being the point - sell what the customer wants to buy and it’s a lot easier to get a signature on the contract.

And why we end up with such poor outcomes, everything is presented as Left/Right, Black/White, Right/Wrong, Yes/No, nothing is a sensible compromise derived from sensible debate.
It has to end badly on so many fronts IMO.
A lot of the problem I think is that there are too many political reporters and not enough policy reporters. The journos don't know enough about policy to hold the politicians to account.

When even their ABC acknowledges it, there should be reason to believe actions will be made
But do not hold your breath, no money pit that can not be filled with more taxes and borrowing

There's talk of Tim Wilson nominating for the Libs leadership.

He is intelligent and a thinker, better than the two duds presently being considered. He is right wing but not in the dumb Sky News way.
He is also the only Liberal to win back his inner city seat, through not doing the typical tactics.

I reckon he would be a great Leader for the Libs and would achieve a lot if elected to run the country.

It would appear that the Liberal candidate for Bullwinkle has declared the Labour candidate to be the winner in Bullwinkle.
It was certainly a close one but now Trish has to prove herself in the next three years.

Having Tim Wilson as a potential leader only serves to highlight to lack of talent in the Libs.

Worst leadership team since....Billy McMahon I reckon.

Hmm. I noticed that he is quite, quite committed to Nuclear Power being the answer to ... whatever they want it to be,

I don't believe that is a great start for a new Liberal leader after this election

The Nats:

"Individual achievement, the importance of free choice and a fair go, reward for private enterprise and the need for equity investment and wealth generation."

Littleproud: "All decisions will be made by the collective, not individuals".

Which is the big issue for the right in Australia: neither in policies/programs nor internally within the party/branches are the key principles followed.
LNP now just a weak social democrat party in the hands of the WEF and local lobbies, yet unable to match the helicopter money and voters imports of the ALP
No better than the ALP where even members votes are discarded to the benefit of rotten/,organised crime unions with individual MP unable to vote against the party lines (either...)
What a pitiful demonstration of democracy, more mediocracy than anything.

Sussan Ley. There you go. Good Luck
Not a lot of cattle to choose from.
My bet is by the next Fed election our Basil who is the new current leader of the Liberals here in WA will be given a "safe" seat to become the next and one of many past Liberal Party leaders.

I think they'll churn through quite a few over the next 2 terms. 29-25 votes is not exactly a united party. They'll need more than a pair of t1ts and 2 left boots to be electable :2twocents

All the cool leaders have SS in the name, Sussan and Larissa. Let's be honest here, are we not just waiting for the PM to rediscover his Scottish roots and rebrand as Alba-Nessie ?

Changes to Liberal Party policy position with a new leader. :D

“We’ve Learned” Liberal Party Reveals New Female-Focused, Pink Nuclear Reactors

Saying it has learned the lessons of the recent federal election, the Liberal Party has shown its commitment to attracting the female vote, with a range of gorgeous new nuclear reactor designs.

New deputy leader and energy spokesperson Ted O’Brien conceded the party had abandoned women in recent years and wanted to show it was serious about winning them back.

“We’ve spoken to some ladies in recent days and clearly where we got things wrong with our nuclear policy was not making the reactors female friendly.

“These new reactors will hero the season’s latest colours and patterns with stunning floral arrangements and designs, which is what women want I think. They’ll even have free tampons dispensers,” O’Brien said.

Launching the new designs today, leader Sussan Ley said the Liberal Party was listening to voters. “What we have shown today with this new announcement is that we are willing to put everything on the table as we seek to rejuvenate the Liberal Party,” adding that the party would cut 41,000 public sector jobs if successful at the next election.
