WBC - Westpac Banking Corporation

At least someone is trying.

I've got an old schoolmate who breeds Herefords that moved out to the countryside about 30 years ago, I don't think he reads and writes much; I would expect many to be like him out there who wouldn't use a computer much at all.
you might be surprised , sometimes you need the damn computer because hanging on the phone waiting for a government employee 🤬🤬🤬🤬 ( and then the phone signal drops out )

Probably has a farm hand or a close friend/relative to help with the internet stuff.

But good on WBC. How much would it cost???? Just from a PR exercise worth it.

WBC Westpac Banking Corp. One of the 4 pillars and a must have in any comp. SP is doing well, so happy days holding this thieving bank.

If anyone's interested in WBC's results today, have completed the full analysis already - report attached.

WBC Westpac Banking Corporation. #rd pick for the 2025 Yearly Competition.
WBC's SP hasn't done much for the year.
Been up, then down and now finished about where it was at the start of the year.
Not one to make much on if trading, but definitely a hold for the Dividend that the thieving bank pays out.

WBC no 3 pick for the yearly comp. Thieving bank but WBC's SP is still on the rise and doing much better than last month.

WBC Thieving bank but a must have one of them in the competition.
SP is down a smidgeon but snakes and ladders with it's SP.

only have the few i still retain because i sold ex-div. while still signed up to the DRP ( how embarrassing )

leaving unmarketable parcel currently

maybe the share price will go to $80+ each ( in my lifetime ) so i can offload them because accumulating them via the DRP currently is very slow work ( i sold them in June 2021 )

i thought Gail Kelly as CEO would change the culture there ( when she was ) but i was wrong

"Westpac (WBC) $36.04 vs Commonwealth Bank (CBA) $167.21
It’s not often we see WBC outperform CBA by 10% in a week. Both companies updated the market to varying degrees, with CBA releasing very solid FY25 results, while WBC provided a quarterly update that was slightly stronger. CBA booked earnings growth of 4.3% for the year—a good outcome for such an economically sensitive business—while WBC’s quarterly showed earnings growth of 5.6%.

While WBC’s result was a touch stronger, the main driver of the 10% performance gap came from their respective starting points. CBA was trading on a PE of 29x, nearly 4x price-to-book, and a 2.7% dividend yield. Westpac, on the other hand, was on 16x, a price-to-book of 1.7x, and a yield of around 5%. CBA’s result suddenly forced investors to ask the question: Why am I paying 29x for so little growth?

Relativity in the market is an important concept. Buying a cheaper stock with higher growth generally makes a lot of sense.
MM remains neutral on CBA & bullish on WBC"

WBC third pick for the Yearly Comp.
As much as I despise banks, thieving banks, one of these is a sure thing in the Comp.
Its SP has increased significantly from the start of the year, so long term holders should be rejoicing.
Happy to have WBC as one of my picks.

I have similar sentiments to @farmerge on banks, but took it in the comp as a defensive position more than anything else. But to my surprise it is up just shy of 20% for the year.
Contributing to me having 4 picks in the green.
