The latest assasination and the attempted assasination of Trump, shows the left loonies are just as unhinged as the right wing loonies.

The only difference is the left hold the stage at the moment, but when assasination of people you don't like becomes something to rejoice, one knows it has gone to far left.

Yes, but I wouldn't equate the political Left with Christianity in any way. No "true" Christian would rejoice in senseless violence, and the Left have their arguments with Christians in a few areas (gender issues, abortion etc).

Christianity is a whole can of worms, there are Left leaning Christians and Right leaning Christians. They study different parts of the Bible, and cherry-pick what they feel like.

But that's another story, which I don't think we want to go into here. :smuggrin:

When people talk about the Jews, I like to point out there are no "The Jews".

Likewise, there are no "The Christians". At the risk of indulging in the no true Scotsman fallacy, no true Christian cherry picks the Bible (there are ongoing debates regarding interpretation though), and as SP, says that's too complex a topic for this thread.

However Christians are all just miserable pieces of crap, just like everyone else, and struggling with their faults. This is the whole point of the Gospel if anyone actually cares to read it... and much of the New Testament is the apostles smacking various churches for falling into error.

There are plenty of loonies for sure though and plenty of problems in every denomination and these are what gain notoriety, rather than the quiet people just trying to practice our faith.

Perhaps a topic for its own thread.

She did say is this act (Charlie Kirk) is not an act of progress, so she obviously disagreed with his death.

More broadly speaking, getting rid of murderous dictators for the good of a country or the world may be justified.

Do you agree?

Insomuch as murderous dictators are, by definition, extremists, sure. But we, and they, are currently speaking in the context of Charlie Kirk and the broader context of Western politics, not Pol Pot, Che Guevara, or Joseph Stalin.

Charlie Kirk was a moderate Christian conservative whose only weapon was speech. He sought only to have conversation and debate, his battlefield only in the arena of ideas. He not a murderous dictator, nor did he ever promote anything remotely like that.

His most radical position was in promoting marriage, having children and knowing Jesus.

Is shooting Kirk, blowing out his carotid artery, in front of his wife and thousands of young people and the nation, what Zali Steggall agrees is justifiable violence? For traditional family and religious life?

What happened to arguing ideas with speech, rather than blowing someone away like a sniveling coward on a rooftop from 200m away, then scurrying away like a cockroach?

I agree with most of what you said.

I was just defending Ms Steggall who I don't believe agreed with Kirk's killing. But no doubt the outrage media and RWNJ's will try and pretend that she did.

Incidentally, "knowing Jesus" is, as you alluded to previously a matter of interpretation. J.C. preached that people should care for strangers (e.g. migrants) and the marginalised (https://jesusleadershiptraining.com/foreigners-what-did-jesus-say-about-foreigners/#:~:text=Matthew 25:35-40: Jesus teaches the importance of welcoming,,the least among people is done for Him.) , maybe including gays and trans people and not try and demonise them. All true, but perhaps you could highlight this speech for discussion for greater context... and there is context to be considered. Christianity is not exempt from agendization (sic)

The Bible does clearly define morality. I will admit the church (ie the fallen humans therein) doesn't always get this right (see my earlier comments). But that is a complex discussion.

But it does not mean welcoming entities that means us harm is biblical. Both the old and new testaments are replete with examples.

I'm sure the authors of the article you linked may eventually resist our obliteration (and yet another deep theological discussion is warranted on that).

One again, perhaps you could provide in context examples.

Looking at it from a pragmatic point of view that's fine. I was speaking from a religious context (I'm not religious but I know a bit about the Bible), and people who claim to be Christians and then treat other people like cr@p are frauds. If they want to treat other people like cr@p ok, but don't pretend to be Christian at the same time, it just doesn't go with the teachings.
