Yes but you could also say that if things were ok, then the voters would not have changed the government.

Often Govt's are flipped because people get bored with more of the same, it doesn't mean that a change will be for the better.

But my original comment was in response to smurf mentioning, laws being made for laws sake, rather than allowing people to make choices and decide for themselves. As with shopping hours, laws are made as to when shops can open, but if you work 12 hour shifts it is often awkward to shop in normal hours.
For years I went to work at 06.00 and arrived home at 19.00, shops being open at 08.30 to 17.30 made it difficult to shop.

I certainly agree and it shows that the major parties represent vested interests like business and unions who financially support those parties and not the average consumer who is basically the meat in the sandwich.

It won't change unless political donations are changed to a public funding system and neither party or their backers want that.
