Check out these vegan body builders.
Your body doesn’t need meat to survive or thrive.
The only USA weight lifter qualify for the last olympics was actually a vegan.
Ann can ramble of about protein all she likes, but these guys (and millions of others) are proof plant based protein is all you need.
Think about it, the animals people eat to get protein are vegan, look at the biggest and strongest animals in the animal kingdom eg gorillas, elephants, rhino etc etc all vegan.
Sorry VC, but you are wrong.
We had a statistician stay at the Ross island Hotel and he taught the assembled mob over two weeks until he could get free Legal Aid for his pending divorce the difference between correlation and causation.
He would have described your example as a study of 1. Uno. One bloke.
You cannot extend this to millions.
The weight lifting vegan is a freak of nature, an outlier, similar to the dead parrot.

I am not actually trying to increase my protein intake. If you read carefully I actually gave up the protein diet as it was horrible to digest and even worse (awful smell) to pass.
It was just comments about what I found to be suitable to me (balanced diet) and my digestive system, similar to what wayneL found.
Again, to be fair, H, these parents are outliers.
Although to be honest they are outliers of outliers.
Whenever something is taken to extremes, such as dietary restriction, there is the possibility of the sad, bad or plain mad to take it to harmful behaviour.
These parents starved their child through veganism so that she weighed only twice or three times her birth weight at one year of age, was severely malnourished, had no teeth and may be adversely affected for the rest of her life.

Your body will adjust back to its default state perfectly fine.
No, you must have missed the part where I told you I know my nutrition and metabolism. It is a case if how individuals process different foods... and to repeat once again, the role of chronic inflammation... Many plants are inflammatory to humans, more so some than others. In regards to Wayne, I think he was probably missing something in his diet, that could easily be replaced without going back to eating dead bodies.
And yet there are healthy pandas - evolutionary carnivores! Here's a test. Try converting a carnivore, say a dog, to veganism. Their health suffers.

Awesome point mate, and the effects are going to be magnified as we age since the male hormones naturally decline with age....not to mention the negatives of soy foe males, unless those phytoestrogens are neutralised.
I don't dispute you can be healthy and vegan, but Pandas are slow and slovenly, even if involuntarily vegan. And yet there are healthy pandas - evolutionary carnivores!
Very good Article SirRumpole,it looks at both sides of the equation (animal protein vs plant protein).Interesting article on plant v animal protein.

So is a massive slab of the population, and most are not vegan!I don't dispute you can be healthy and vegan, but Pandas are slow and slovenly, even if involuntarily vegan.

There are lots of sources of protein and energy which do not require meat eating, so I do not agree with your point about what your metabolism needs.
I suspect you ideas are more about personal preference than physiological requirement.
