Wanted - Experienced traders confident to provide coaching to newbie traders like me.

Well I say I am a newbie "trader" actually I have never had the mind to actually sell anything that I have bought and "take the profits" or maybe more importantly "cut my losses". If I had I would probably be up about now To I am not sure I could even call myself an Newbie trader if I have never completed the trade i.e. buy then sell

After reading book after book, article after article and spending time trying avoid the lure of buying trading system scams and forums offering stock tips I am still stuck. I have picked a few stocks in the past based on the industry that's mortgage Technology so I now how to buy stocks but my problem is I have no idea how to find a stocks and even worse how to research promising stocks to identify how promising and therefore allow me to calculate the risk.

So my questions to you knowledgeable experts.

Q1: What are your top 3 tips and techniques for finding potential Stocks?

Q2: What are your top 3 tips and techniques for researching stocks you have find to decide how promising?

Q3: What are your top 3 things you do once you have found a promising stock?

Q4: What are your top 3 tips for tools needed for managing trades, spreadsheets, journals, etc and if so what do you use?

If you feel that tip 4 & 5 exists then please share......

I hope that this time next year I can catch up with the old me and provide my own top 3 tips from a winning position.

All tips will be treated like a gift and used wisely

Hi bbqwisdom,
Welcome to ASF

I like your style.
Are you looking for bbq tips?

Always add some pineapple to your bbq.
It helps to keep the hotplate clean.
Tomato is nearly as good.

Seriously, find a narrative, someting that interests you!

I like the China story, I don't believe it's over just yet.
They will need copper, iron & "moly be damned".
eg. copper prices are at a two year low.

Google stuff, ...
and keep your narrative in mind as you watch the news!
Read some reports on ASX:

Top 3 stocks:
Vegetable, chicken and beef.
If you have thyme for cooking, make your own stock!

Thanks for the tips, hopefully as a result my profits come more frequently than my favoured steak.....rare sorry could not resist but with the good tips around the BBQ I can wow friends and family and hopefully with the profits coming from the tips we can finally switch the BBQ on and cook something.

Keep the tips coming I am a sponge ready to absorb the wealth of knowledge and experience

Lol @burglar, that's certainly a way to look at things! BBQ Tips are always welcome! @bbqwisdom, I personally play a little bit more cautiously on the stock market and go for blue chips rather than banking on fast gains. In general, I would suggest that you keep one eye on the economy and find out as much as you can about the company before you're going to put your money in!
