The completely useless irrelevant thread

The Bureau of Meteorology advised today's top temperature in Canberra would be 11C. They lied. :(
It would appear that not only here in WA that BOM are consistently far off the mark when it comes to correct forecasting.
The red meat ant nest that I check on daily is a far better guide to rain or a rainless day.
At present they are building the outside wall a lot higher.
I decided to give a helping hand by placing some smallish gravel stones around but not to close to help stop them from drowning in the BOM forecast of a deluge over this this week.⛈️

Off to feed the bovines and move them to higher ground.
Playing safe with this one.
The erstwhile boffins at BOM have forecast near-on flooding this afternoon.
Perhaps I should also prepare an ark for the occasion.
Then again they haven't got much right so far this year, so maybe just sitting in front of the wood fire might be the best afternoon option.

and another fine example. Anyone wishing to check it, by the way?

After feeding the bovines on higher ground and preparing the arc in case of need, it would appear that the deluge predicted by BOM may just be another fizz-ogg as is usual now.
All this preparation has knocked the stuffing out of me, so think that I will partake of an hour's kip.

Sprung out of bed, had a coffee and was getting ready for a 7:00am walk. I then noticed the temps and thought better of it.

At -7.3C (app -10.2C) just stay indoors for a bit and have another brew. Bugger attempting to maintain a modicum of fitness.

it was -4.7°C in Canberra at midnight .... a stable high pressure column. frost and a blue sky day to follow

Yep. Same today. Completely clear and -7.5C when I got out of bed. Nice inside at 18C though. Had to keep the hot water (solar) tap run for a bit as, although the pipes are insulated, it is a trickle for around a minute to clear the system of restrictions.

It's weird as heck as Perisher is 7C, so where I live there is a 14.5C difference.
