The completely useless irrelevant thread

I was minding my own business and I got a spam text offering me $200,000 a year for doing very little. I texted back "Go f**k yourself" before reporting it. A few minutes later I got a call from an agitated builder wanting to know who I was and why I was telling him to "Go f**k himself. I started explaining about the spam phone call and he slammed the phone down. I reckon someone has taken his phone number over and is using it, but he didn't give me a chance to explain. I then texted him and said he was a very rude man and blocked his number. If you meet any agitated builders today swinging whatever builders swing about when they are in a rage can you let him know that I have forgiven him.

Does all the figure eights have any meaning, good or bad.

Chinese numerology

Some numbers are believed by some to be auspicious or lucky or inauspicious or unlucky based on the Chinese word that the number sounds similar to. The numbers 6 and 8 are widely considered to be lucky, while 4 is considered unlucky. These traditions are not unique to Chinese culture, with other countries with a history of Han characters also having similar beliefs stemming from these concepts. Wikipedia

An ASF contributor mentioned having a breakfast of bran, cornflakes, yoghurt, full cream milk and black forest frozen fruit (from the packet that they've changed the location of recently at Coles).

I make my own muësli, blending raw oats , bran, dried fruit, LSA, a mix of nuts (brazil, cashew, walnut, macadamia), almonds both whole and flaked , some shredded coconut; put in a container and shake well.

Come time to break my fast, I soak a serve of muesli in soy milk, microwave some frozen blueberries and mango to add to the bowl, then some Jalna Greek yoghurt and a banana, kiwifruit and/or passionfruit if in season.

No sugar added. Oats can be full sized or minute, and mangoes on top.

Reads like a lotof work to just get some brekky.
Toast and honey, mug of white tea and the necessary pills to keep me alive.

We had a rather large tree branch come down today and land on the fence and gate.
Repair to the fence not too much of an issue, but repair to the gate which required a bit of welding is now a big issue.
After being able to weld for over 50 years, I can no longer do it, because of the pacemaker glued to my upper chest area.
Fortunately, a long time neighbour and friend came to the rescue, 15 minutes worth with the MIG.

Firey stuff.
Not as safe as once perceived to be.
Seems to be very common with scooters and e-bikes. I think you need to be very careful with the way the batteries are handled and stored. They should have a failsafe protection, whether they've tampered with or are at fault, I don't know, but the same type of batteries in power tools.

Might have to invest in a storage box. Just about everything you buy has lithium batteries these days, so you're exposed to burning down your house or shed.

Following on from @wayneL 's near incomparable post, the world has just found out that Perrier water is just a scam. I always suspected this. I remember as a young man dating a young lady from the right side of the tracks who insisted I buy Perrier water at a restaurant. I refused and when she gave me an ultimatum I walked saving myself possibly some hundreds of thousands iff not millions of dollars. Perrier water is bore water. From the BBC a left wing outfit similar to their ABC.

Evian Water ... ditto.

Comes from Évian-les-Bains, in Haute Savoie, on the southern , French side of Lac Léman. Originally from a spring that fed a small stream , now there's an industrial plant on lake's edge, with several huge intake pipes pumping lake water to factory whence it's plastic'ed (bottled) and trucked out.

Aardvark Taxonomy

Order Tubulidentata
Family Orycteropodidae
Genus Orycteropus
Species Orycteropus afer

The Aardvark looks a bit like the South American anteaters but they are not related. It is in a proposed clade Afroinsectiphilia, with the golden moles and tenrecs. Another proposal is to out it in the Pseudungulata, with the elephants and Sirenia. There is no consensus at present.
