What's the old saying, The more things change, the more they stay the same?

The prosecution of Richard Boyle was digusting.

He did not jeopardise national security, he just blew the whistle on shady tax office practises, an agency that should be working for the public, not against it.

As a result of his impudence, he was dragged through the courts for six years, fortunately at the end a judge had the wisdom not to record a conviction.

It appears our government wants to continue the web of secrecy, and while there are rorts, like anonymous applications, the systrem should be made more transparent, not less.

Far too much shady goings on. and when caught out, well the other crowd were far worse than we appear to be.

Wasn't it the Government that called out the banks for reckless lending, to people who couldn't afford the loan.
Now what do we have. Lol

Is it the case, that now the Government are underwriting the customers, they previously were concerned for?

And the loonies cheer on. Lol

Oh what a mess for the young, what next intergenerational housing loans, to keep the ponzi rolling and the investors rubbing their hands with glee.

All because the politicians can't grow a productive economy and importing people has created more problems than it has solved.
Much like when the cane toad was brought in to solve the prickly pear cactus problem.

One can only hope we get another term of Government, then the agenda will either be working, or well in need of an overhaul.
All just my thoughts.

The jump in price caps to $1 million or more in some capitals from next month was seen as a game-changer for buyers locked out of the market.

The September monthly housing chart by Cotality (formerly Corelogic) has found under old price caps around a third of the 4,848 house and unit markets analysed nationally had a median value below the respective limits.

So much of the problem is just human nature. People would rather live in a tiny tenth floor apartment in Sydney than a full-sized block in or around a regional town. It's understandable in places like Hong Kong or Singapore to be running out of space, but Australia has vast tracts of land; there is currently no genuine scarcity - though it's worrisome not only how much land has been already handed to Aborigines but how much land they also have an active claim they're fighting for.

People would rather be in debt forever, rather than move to the bush, that's why FIFO does so well.

Ah, the benefits of multi culturalism.

Islamophobia envoy calls for religious discrimination laws, review of approach to counter-terrorism

I think this indicates that we should put a pause on immigration from countries likely to increase social tensions. While it's not necessarily the fault of most immigrants terrorists have been imported and maybe it's time to say "enough".

As Europe is experiencing.

"Other recommendations include more security support for Islamic facilities, grants for community and artistic projects to promote social cohesion and fight Islamophobia, and better reflection of Islamic history and culture in the school curriculum."

So now they want compulsory religious indoctrination in schools?

While our kids are taught mysticism and ancient history, other countries are forging ahead with science and technology and leaving us far behind.

And not only are we having to address the issues that new immigrants and cultures are presenting, we are also trying to excuse ourselves to the indigenous population, meanwhile we are actually trying to maintain our economy, our productivity and improve things. Lol

Like I said a long time ago, we need a statesperson, who can give the country a common vision, rather than constantly looking to excuse ourselves, to all and sundry, for being one of the best places in the World to live.
