Simple pleasures

Did you ever stop to think just how brave the person was who ate the first oyster ?

I'm guessing it wasn't someone of Peter Slipper's leanings.:cautious: I'm mildly allergic to oysters so they're not on my list.

Yeah :xyxthumbs to the bratwurst and the kransky. And asparagus, although I love eating it raw and with nothing on it.

My ham sandwich I just had for lunch. Fresh baked sourdough from the bakery up the road, honey smoked ham from the butcher, a mild cheddar (I don't care much for strong cheeses) and wholegrain mustard. Washed down with some of Bundaberg's finest ginger beer.

Ahh the simple pleasures of life.:D

Simple? That sandwich sounds like hard work.

I am quoting one of my mates here... "The best pleasures in life are eating, sleeping, doing a dump and making love. If you can do all of these without problems or stress, you'd be the happiest person in the world."

Forget the sandwich. For me, there's nothing better in the world than a good slice of ham. Give me a slice of jamon iberico that has been properly stored and cut and let me wash it down with something red from Priorat or Montsant and I'm the happiest man in the world.

Where to start!!!!

Fresh mudcrab with a nice beer.
Good quality dark chocolate.
Like sydboy says, a nice malt.
That first drink of cool water from a rainwater tank after working out in the sunny dusty outdoors.
Crawling into bed after getting off a long haul flight.

My missus and I get a lot of pleasure from sitting out on our deck with a pot of tea or occasionally something stronger, and watching the cattle grazing in the paddock right beside the house, and the birds coming in to feed on the grain we put out for them each day just a few meters from the deck. We have more than 30 different bird species in our garden, our favorites being galahs and rainbow lorikeets and magpies.

Also my long walks very early each morning before sunrise along quiet country lanes among horses and cattle and birdsong, take a lot of beating.

And scratching an itch – it’s hard to beat the sheer pleasure of giving a good itch a decent scratch!

When it's in peak season, a large plate of thick asparagus spears, liberally coated with butter and salt.

Anything with real grassfed butter and salt (celtic or himalayan please) and you've got me listening.
Put it on veggies, meat, sweet potato, popcorn...anything!

Or maybe even a cup of bulletproof coffee - if your into that kind of thing :p

Yeah!!!

English Ale, 'specially Badger First Gold.

German Bratwurst with saurkraut and fair dinkum German mustard.

....and just a decent meat pie with crusty pastry.

Yeah the simple pleasures. :xyxthumbs

I have to agree with all these. :xyxthumbs

Just back from Germany and you have to include decent rye bread. I remember why I don't eat sauerkraut.... with Wurzburger Hofbrau Schwartzbier.

The meat pie has to have chinks of meat. None of the fake dribbly mince crap that makers of pie have the gall to call "steak".

100km bike ride this morning then two bacon and egg rolls with bbq sauce at a local cafe with a couple of mates. Perfect.
