Hi

I want to be able to short sell in these current market conditions. understand i need to do it through a margin account.
it appears as though commsec doesnt allow this or is through a CFD account??

I want to be able to trade where i borrow the share, the market drops then i cover the position and get credited the amount the share has dropped.

Also any reading links on this would be appreciated.

Few threads on this in the 'Tradings strategies/systems' forum.

Unless you are very experienced in trading, the recommendation is basically stay away from CFDs. Traditional short selling can be done through a broker that allows it - IB is probably the best as they have a decent number of shortable stocks
Options are another way to profit from a falling market but is a different kettle of fish.

I believe Commsec only allows you to short for the one day. They also have a whole heap of extra conditions last time I looked. From memory they also have a limited list of stocks you can short. IB would be your best bet.
