"Dogs of the year" is a US concept extended to the asx
US and most of the civilised world try to match financial and calendar year;
In the above case, I run the "dog of the year" onto the calendar year financial.
All super related results are just factual coincidences:
starting a move to AustralianSuper fund in dec 2023 allowing "direct investment/restricted share selections" and invested then as per money becoming available in the rollover;
Our SMSF will start similarly as soon as the money get transferred and the accounts setup
Not perfect but this is the world we live in.

I agree..luck will play euther way, the next 23 weeks might see 10% jump..and i will look on the sidewalk...

in above post I mean next 2, 3 weeks..
the frog super:
we went cash at an ATH, probably not the worst time but who knows...


Since 20/12/23 so in exactly 13 months, the super went up 9% net of all fees and taxes, XJT went up14.4% during that time.
I lost vs XJT but not too bad vs LICs or ASX index ETFs considering the high level of cash exposure
Of interest:
The best trades for that period were:
Silver (ETPMAG):39%,
DEG: 36%
VTS: 36%
MQG: 30%
IAA: 29% (Asia ETF which I can not buy anymore thru Australian Super)

The worst trades:
BOE:-38% Some parcels were not that bad but that is the company which lost me the most , and all that because I could not buy URNM etf....
CRN: -37% hum doubt I will touch that one ever again
BPT & PLS:-24%
Hope this journey has been pleasant to follow, we will start a new one, with my hands not tied in the back in a couple of weeks

I know, i just try to believe in stats..
Even if they are statically matching the asx, i would not be that excited if the asx falls by 15% and the dog by just 14%

Ideally i would have paper traded for the fun of it, but a year is a very long paper trading just to see..
And if i play real, 5k packets are really in the lower side after costs...
Will see:
if the market crashes, this is when i will need and might miss iron will...
Hard enough on your systems but on an experiment ....

When the US market is all green

It makes you wonder why you even try
But it is also true that my SL yesterday probably removed most of today's green potentials.
Last 2 days saw me fully out of sync with the market both ASX ..a bloodbath yesterday for me, and US.
Lucky all the super is stuck on cash while AustraliaSuper is doing its upmost to delay transfer to SMSF

Super still stuck with AustralianSuper making its best intents NOT to rollover funds
So super still all cash, up .1% this week whereas XJT jumped 1.7%
Overall and except for the locked super, was a stellar week with investments up 2% week on week even with super frozen and heavy cash;
Last night in the US reducing a bit the joyful celebration.
What you all want to know:
The dogs of the ASX.
.remaining a RSPCA mongrels club:

losing 0.2% since last week, positive overall but just.

And ILU becoming our rabid POS of the month, down 15.8% since purchased on 8/01
That stock is enough to drag the lot down
FMG our best for the month at 9% followed by PDN up 7.6%

still fighting with AustralianSuper to get my super back..was given yesterday the exact opposite answer and recommendation to last week same query, no individual contact 45min on the phone ;
luckily, I think last week was the right answer, they just did not do anything
and refilling a new online form and waiting for them to requery the papers they have had for a fortnight.
no contact, email address..you just call and start again the explanation, get on hold and hang up after one hour and receing an email with a form (a noreply sender of course)
Considering this is not a market collapse condition, I am not dealing with an estate or anything complex, and supposedly a very straightforward process, I would highly recommend customers get out of AustralianSuper ASAP DIYR
: their processes seem as flawed as their last 3 or is it 4 headline failures in the last 3 months with billions in smoke.

Ok, maybe next week, in the meantime nearly only cash and a month of wasted investment opportunities
The dogs of 2024 portfolio turned negative...hum

portfolio at -0.94% since 8/01 with 4 parcels in profit and 6 at a loss, the biggest losers:
ILU -11.63 and a nice catch up effort by VEA now at -10.14%
FMG the biggest winner at +12.4%
The race is on....

That is ridiculous.

My wife and I rolled our individual super funds into our newly created SMSF at the end of last year year, I was expecting delays but went smoothly.

Now we’re slowly picking quality value stocks, not in a rush due to the over/priced market and its volatility, leaving a fair amount of cash in term deposits.

And another week, another 1h phone call and another hurdle thrown under to prevent my transfer out of AustralianSuper to SMSF..
And had to relaunch a different modified transfer form which will take them...until next friday arvo to probably reject on the next unknown close/obligation, or vague or hidden requirement, and obviously never discussed
Avoid like the plague
Luckily my investment outside super and the dogs are going very well..
because the dogs remained definitively dogs:

yes , am still trying to decide IF and when i take another small nibble at ILU , am still up over 200% on MIN so not on the top up list fair a while yet

Gees that is **** the amount of time they are taking. When I transferred my super from Host Plus to a smsf in Stake I think the process was done in under a week. From memory I had sold everything and only had cash in Host Plus when I did the transfer maybe that speed the process up. Good luck with it.

I did transfer everything to cash before the initial request but i have term deposit pending.
And they made a distinction between cash as real cash into my member direct and cash as the "cash investment options" in the std super options.
After 2 conflicting recommendations, it seems the transfer can only be done from the cash units options , not the cash balance.
You also need to leave $6k if not cloding thd account /partial transfer.. which does not include the $50k left as term deposit..until the next pretext
Glad you had a better experience.
I will actually raise an official complaint with the Super body against AustralianSuper..i have all my interaction but the phone records which they are supposedly keeping...

Great news, after a whole month, to the day by the time i get access: AustralianSuper send me part of my super back to the SMSF.
Part only as i gave up closing the TD they manage seeing the nightmare i got just retrieving available cash.
I would nevertheless not recommend using them anymore, once you try interacting in any way or form

A good week on the ASX for the frog:
The Super money was transferred and I started getting back in the market today, slowly, looking at (relative) discount.
And the fall of the XJT is making me feel good

Now to the dogs of 2024:

MIN a stunning 23.2% down in less than 60 days and 4 others more than 10% on the same duration

What I find interesting is the binary nature of the evolution;
really bad or good; no so so...
Out of the 10 entries, only one has not moved more than 5% [ IEL down 2.8%]
for perspective, XJT along that same period is up 0.08% so flat
