NHC - New Hope Corporation

NHC , anyone ?

looks like it will go below $4 soon

crazy metrics

i hold NHC 'free-carried' ( my theoretical av. SP is just under $2.20 )

PS don't forget it has a subsidiary that produces/sells oil to a local refinery
captured 3500 @ $4.97 today (05/03/25) ...

I've built a fairly sizable coal miner holding since I originally "dipped my toe in the water" when some of these were around a dollar. At the time the narrative was that coal was dead and would most likely disappear as an industry. Even accessory analysis revealed that this was an absolute load of codswallop.

One of my best strategies is to try and define when commodities are at the absolutely minimum price... The price went producers start closing down because they can't make a profit.

eg, if coffee farmers start plowing their bushes in because they losing money, buy coffee with your damned ears pinned back... Because an under supply is surely to follow.

That was my thinking when I originally entered the coal market, especially when the month for the product is not likely to reduce anytime soon.

People are always going to drink coffee, and for the foreseeable future, the world is always going to need coal.... our coal.

Does <$4 for NHC represent that level at the present time? Well, I'm seriously thinking about doing some topping up now too.

remember NHC is MORE than a coal miner , it runs cattle on rehabilitated land , has port facilities AND an oil producing arm .

sure they don't contribute a lot to the bottom line BUT if coal dies , it has experience in other areas , already

probably being a tad harsh on yourself @finicky .... we all do it from time to time... hey you in the front row seat, good fortune

Who knows what the right price to buy is?

Too soon is too expensive, too late and you don't get the shares because they never get to your price.

@#$& me, I've missed so many by a bee's d1ck, waiting for a specific price.

i waited three years for my entry price into BPT and four months later it was HALF that entry price , but i kept on cautiously buying on the way down ( and reducing into the recovery later that year )

i look for an 'acceptable price ' and decide IF to add if the price keeps sliding

Another small bodied candle today; meaning closing price returned almost to the open price.
I put in a bid for a 1,000 add early in the day @ 3.94 but it didn't get hit. Leave it sitting.
WHC (Whitehaven) made a 'doji' today - open equal to close.
Signs of indecision after a downtrend?

On a broad market down day this NHC chart is a good look for at least an interim low?
Momentum indicators (daily) are crossing too.
YAL and WHC up also and SMR holding ground.

Not inclined to chase atm

i started buying (NHC ) in April 2013 @ $3,30 , 8 buys later ( 9 buys in total ) i stopped with a buy @ $1.12 in October 2020

in 2023 i sold down @ $5.67 in March ( 2023 ) and later in July 2023 sold some more @ $4.81 , taking more cash off the table than i had put in ( roughly 1.75 times the cash invested ) and still hold a useful amount

worth all the extra effort in my opinion

New Hope Corp pushes for sale of Bridgeport oil and gas assets

i hold NHC and WHC ( both 'free-carried' )

am not so sure i am happy to see them flow off Bridgeprt Energy , it gave NHC an interesting touch of diversity ()and less likely to be financially crushed by activists )

might be something i have to consider on the weekend ( hold , sell , or what ? )
