My son and 1 other worker had to go to a regional residential care home (bit out of the act) to look after some kids (12,14, 15yo).
Turns out they are using Indian and Africans to look after the kids. There's a level of neglect happening and potential rorts (stealing food from the kids). The 14yo had bashed the 12yo so badly that the kid almost died. I think there were 48 violent incidents by that kid in a week or something.
As bad as he sounds my son took that kid out for the day to do activities and he wasn't a bad kid at heart just zero guidance and had fallen into a gang. He was actually pretty immature for his age.
The 12 yo that got bashed they stuck in a hotel. He was bored and neglected.
My son wrote up 15 incidents that should have got the house shut down.
Instead they just moved the 12yo to Orange.
The stories coming out of these places are horrendous. A lot of these kids are young aboriginals. My young bloke was distraught over the lack of care in the industry, but he was warned that it never gets addressed.
