But, if Djokovic has lied on his travel declaration and/or Visa application and he is unvaccinated, then his visa should be cancelled and shouldn't of been approved in the first place. No one is above the law and in my opinion is treating Australia with contempt.

Where did Djokovic get his clearance from in the the first place? Tennis Australia, Victorian Government or Federal Government. It is difficult to find accurate information, just a lot of confussion as usual.

Djokovic is a foreigner without a valid visa.

He should be sprayed repeatedly and deep cleaned.

Once that is done he should be returned to Melbourne and placed in a suitable economy hotel without fresh air nor accompanying heavies and minders.

Perhaps while in detention he could be put to fixing respirators or knotting facemasks, anything except play that ugly game, tennis.

Review in 3 years and possibly return to Jugoslavia or whatever it calls itself then.

The Federal Circuit and Family Court can be wrong. This is rare though with Justice Anthony Kelly, who has a very low appeal rate on his judgements.

The judgement was on process and not on how much popcorn one had bought for a late night sitting, checking Flight Radar 24, Dominos, Fridge full, etc. etc. , Everything that goes with turfing an absolute genius at some sweaty sport or other out of the country on his ar*e.

I have had to awake at 5am now to check on this tinea afflicted person's status as a temporary entry to our pleasant land, girth by sea etc, etc. I usually awake at 1 am and 3 am to trade the US market. This chappie Djokovic is going to play hell with my circadian rhythm.

In fact if the Lord Jesus who Djokovic's father compares him to, appeared and said he should stay, I would probably have to disagree.

A leaked document from Tennis Australia (TA) has reportedly shown that the organisation wrongly informed unvaccinated players they could enter the country for the Australian Open if they had caught Covid within the last six months.

That is despite the Federal Government informing Tennis Australia that prior infections were not covered in its guidelines for medical exemptions. Letters from Federal Health Minister Greg Hunt sent to TA in November allegedly show the governing body was aware of this caveat before giving players what is believed to be incorrect advice the following month.

The letter was sent after Mr Hunt wrote to TA CEO Craig Tiley at the end of November to say a recent infection would not grant players an exemption.

“The Australian Border Force has advised that people must be fully vaccinated, as defined by ATAGI (the national advisory body on vaccines) to gain quarantine-free entry into Australia,” Mr Hunt wrote.

“In relation to your specific questions, I can confirm that people who contracted Covid-19 within the past six months and seek to enter Australia from overseas, and have not received two doses of a Therapeutic Goods Administration-approved or recognised vaccine are not considered fully vaccinated.”

Mr Hunt specifically reiterated to Mr Tiley that “major sporting events” were at the mercy of “relevant jurisdiction” and that Tennis Australia should be ensuring they are working alongside Australian Border Force officials to ensure players were eligible to enter.

“We encourage travellers to consult the requirements the state or territory they wish to enter to compete in the Australian Open and summer series lead-in events, to ensure they can meet the relevant entry requirements,” he wrote.

“I encourage sporting organisations, including Tennis Australia, to continue to work with the Australian Border Force, state and territory health authorities and venues on Covid-safe plans for events, including for international travel where this is relevant.”

It is not known whether Mr Tiley had communicated this to Djokovic or his team prior to the Serbian’s attempt to enter the country.

Tennis Australia, which has yet to issue a statement on Djokovic’s deportation, has been contacted for comment.

I wouldn't know, I can't find anything on the media, possibly the visa is a honesty thing where you fill in the application and they take it as being honest and correct, but the visa is checked when you arrive a bit like the quarantine and dangerous goods declaration.
I've applied and received visas for many countries when travelling on cruises, you fill in the forms pay the money and the visas comes even for China. It doesn't mean you wont get questioned and character checked when you arrive in the country.

Or maybe with a major tournament like the Australian Open the visas are obtained through Tennis Australia as their sponsor and agent.
I wouldn't expect all the players and entourage, to apply individually, but maybe they do.

It is certainly getting interesting, but a lot of mud has already been slung, so plenty will stick to all sides.
This is the best article I can find on the visa issue. It is worth reading the whole article. It sounds as though the immigration officers were heavy handed, not incorrect in cancelling the visa.

That would help the Government which I am sure Djoko has no interest in doing.

My guess is they will let him stay but put in some rule that has no hope of having any effect e.g. he will promise to only travel between his hotel room and the event and attend no sponsorship parties. The trouble the Government has is that have to make it appear they have had a win without appearing silly.

My advice to Novax is, next time be upfront and just tell the truth. If he told the truth the first time, he would not have had to remember his story, which subsequently has more holes in it than Swiss cheese. He would not have had to back pedal, change his original story and continue the lie.
