My advice to Novax is, next time be upfront and just tell the truth. If he told the truth the first time, he would not have had to remember his story, which subsequently has more holes in it than Swiss cheese. He would not have had to back pedal, change his original story and continue the lie.

Exactly. He gave wrong information on his visa application and tried to blame members of his staff who completed the form.

He signed it, he is responsible for all the contents of his visa application and parts of it were false.

That is grounds for immediate expulsion.

I personally think that the whole thing is a bit vindictive and damaging to the Australian Open. There is no public safety issue here. It reeks of politics.

However you can't beat the court of public opinion and so, in the end, he had to go. He won't be missed.

Yes people in Australia have put up with a lot of crap over the last two years and still are, in the name of safely handling the covid pandemic, to slap them in the face by allowing someone to bypass what applies to everyone else because they are a high profile celebrity wouldn't pass the pub test.

Hang on, if I'm understanding correctly, he didn't bypass anything. The only mistake as far as I see is the wrong box checked, which is totally believe able. We have a court decision on that.

BTW, lots of "celebrities" and sportspeople have already done the same, so that doesn't stand up either.

I thought the border rules change all the time and you have to comply with the rules that are in force at that time, tennis Australia was told that having caught covid was not an exemption for the vaccine.
Tennis Australia knew the rules, they just thought they would use public opinion to bend them, in the name of a great tennis competition.IMO
It is a bit like a mate of mine who left for Thailand on Thursday, when he applied to go in early December the requirement was proof of vaccination and 5 days home quaranteen.
Two weeks ago he was informed it is now hotel quaranteen that he had to organise and a current covid test not longer than 72 hours before arrival.
He could have said, BS you said, but I dont think that would cut it, he would have been on the next plane back.
In Thailand they dont allow all and sundry to tell the Governmrnt what to do, that is particular to Australia and the U.K. Lol
I dont agree with mandated vaccination, or most of the other BS, but I gave up banging my head against a wall a long time ago. Ended up in too many punch ups that achieved nothing. Lol

Nothing is set in stone in Australia's legal system, it is usually decided by who has the deepest pockets. ?

What never ceases to amaze me, is how many laws that are passed, have holes in them. When you consider most politicians who draft the general thrust of them, are ex lawyers.

From Morrisons position the 84% of voters who wanted the visa revoked have been appeased.
If it gets overturned, the tennis fans and the other 16% of voters who wanted Djokovic to stay are happy.
That's marketing, everyone's a winner. ?
