Surprised there's no World Cup thread.

Aussies v Kiwis is going to be a classic today.

Both PMs in attendance.

When does that happen in sport?

I'm not a great fan of Shane Watson. However, I must admire his courage and tenacity in facing the barrage (legal mind you) of bumpers that Wahab Riaz of Pakistan aimed at him (more often than not at his head).

It was a great spell of bowling that deserved a better result than it got.

Admittedly Watson was lucky to be dropped at 4 as Riaz fired in his onslaught and Watson's technique in defending was ordinary at best. But you can't take away from the fact that he hung in there. Eventually he came out the winner, hitting the winning runs to be 64 n.o.

I must also acknowledge the attitude that Riaz displayed, after the dropped catch, in supporting the culprit who dropped the ball. I did not see this but the commentators praised Riaz reaction despite the tense situation.

So Australia moves on to play India next in the semi finals, which I think will be a game worthy of the final.

India has definitely improved since their tour games with Australia but Australia has never lost a semifinal.

So its Australia to win.

Michael Clark has been out a couple of times to short pitched balls that he fended off, and Watson could have been as well.

This is possibly a weakness the Indian (and most likely) South African bowlers can exploit.

We have the bowlers to respond to that sort of stuff of course.

Australia make great comeback.

Unlucky to lose by one wicket!

Mitchel Johnson gave away too many runs in his opening spell against NZ....The kiwis were also very complacent in only having to get 152 to win.

If Australia play NZ in the final and with the revamped team of Starc and Halzelwood opening the bowling and Johnson bowling later, I believe the Auusies will defeat NZ...but of course the Aussies have to beat India in their next game.

Over 300 was a competitive total for Australia. Now the Indians are smashing us all over the park and a certainty to go into the final. India 0-73 after 12 overs at present.

Australia into the final Vs New Zealand with an easy victory over India.

Australia was impressive, but equally India was disappointing. They probably had their hopes raised by easy victories over weak opposition. Playing Bangladesh in the quarters was not good preparation.

India continue to show that they are not good travellers, but they are not Robinson Crusoe in that regard.

Their tour in Australia was probably too long.

Wow what foresight...any stock tips to avoid? :)

--------

I didn't thing India would choke like SA did against the Kiwis, but choke they did.

"John the bookmaker" and Hansie Cronje will be rolling in their collective graves. What were the odds of India collapsing and Virat Kohli out for 1 run ?? ;)

It certainly did look possible at that stage of the Indian innings, but our bowlers are just so good. We're well captained and mentally tough.

The Kiwis had plenty of luck against South Africa, and they'll need to bring their best on Sunday.

Aussies easily account for Kiwi's in final and record their 5th win of the World Cup.

Congrats to Clark (retired from ODI's) and the team!

Yes, all stocks on Monday 30th March.

Ian Healy said the NZ side was the best he had seen for a long time but really, the Aus. bowling attack was lethal and in particular one bowler who caused a few shat pants. On batters wickets it was the deciding factor.

I don't understand why the NZ openers didn't just dig in and see Starc off.

Yes he's a good bowler, but they made him look a lot better.

Well done to the Aussie Capt'n and the team. Fantastic result. :xyxthumbs

As much as I likes me cricket, the World Cup turned into a bit of a fizzer. Not that it matters too much as long as the Aussies dominate the opposition, and who doesn't like world domination?, I'm a happy camper. :D

I've a theory that if our cricket team wins, so does our economy.

Oh, and Warne being bagged for his "thirsty" comments, sheesh! What, are we all turning into a bunch of soft c0(ks? Give me a break.
