AI Powered Stock Picking

hahaha, I am

Hello Rypleee,

Which AI does Alpha use?

It looks like I could just put 'provide a research report on ANZ' into an AI and I will get the same information.

What does Alpha do that's different?

And, any evidence of results?

Sean

Hey Sean! Will get back to your Qs with more info later - hands full atm. But I'd hope that my reports do offer more than what you could get from just asking an AI model to provide a research report on ANZ haha. I just compiled one with your methodolgy, and also attached my one for comparison. Talk soon!

Hey Sean,

Providers include OpenAI, Gemini, Meta, and more. However, I'm looking at consolidating providers in the coming year.
As you can probably see in the report, we would distinguish ourselves by the depth of our analysis.
The analysis has NOT been back-tested. I would like to do that in the future some time.
Danelfin's AI research product would be incomparable to my reports. Though they have a nice looking platform (which i need to get on top of sorting out. haha).
Feel free to ask more.
I can't go into all the details - hopefully you can understand, but ill try to cover as much as possible.

Thanks Rypieee,

Understand you can't go into too much detail but I can't actually see where AI is used to generate your report.

It looks like you still need to put in a pile of assumptions to get the fundamental valuations. Maybe that will always be the case?

What I'd really like with AI is to simply type in 'what junior resource stock valued under 50 million should I buy right now' and get a list of 10 in priority order. No valuations or reports, just a list of stocks that will be 10 baggers.

Can AI do that yet?

SK

you might have to be more specific .. like gold , iron , copper etc. etc ( stocks )

and get maybe 4 or 5 in each group

ten-baggers ?

i haven't successfully predicted a ten-bagger yet ( despite some stocks i have bought doubling that , anyway )

if the AI picks just one ten-bagger it will be way better than me

"I can't actually see where AI is used to generate your report" - That's the beauty of my reports :)

Valuations will always require a series of assumptions. It will also require an inefficient market hypothesis.

To your query of what to buy now, ggive me a list - Well, it can response to your query. Sometimes it might even be able to justify its response. But, on the part of why, the AI believes it is a 10 bagger?? maybe its right, most likely its going to be wrong.

@divs4ever and @Rypieee surely AI is moving so quickly that I will be able to ask, 'show me a potential 10-bagger' (in gold or copper, or whatever) and it will be able to spit something out? It's probably already destroyed 50% of the jobs in finance research. The singularity is only a step away which will destroy the other 50%.

and being naturally a contrarian ( and eccentric ) that might work out very nicely for me , by being one of the few on the unpopular end of the trade , and more likely to dictate prices i receive

I've developed myself out of a job, so in theory, 100% of finance research is destroyed.

Singularity, im assuming, youre referring to AGI. I don't know, I don't fully comprehend what AGI really is. Based on what I know about AI, in its current iteration, I would guess that about 50-60% of current white collar professionals could be replaced. This is not accounting for the capacity limitations that current infrastructure has of course. There is an element of the state of our subconscious thinking and memory, that is very difficult for AI models to replicate. Maybe quantum computing, but definitely not LLMs on the current architecture that models are based on. Too linear.

Back to your query on 10 bagger stocks. The AI model can response to you about your query, but it may or may not yield the outcome that it is forecasting. However, if there was 100s of you, inputting the same query and getting the exact same response, then yes, the stock might very well be a 10 bagger for you - just depends on how early you get in on the trade.

as i understand it , a singularity , works on a hive-mind principle

that might be fine for many ( but not the late-comers ) as it creates a self-fulfilling trend

as mention earler ( in various places i ( selectively ) buy into the down-trend , and sell into the rally ( wherever possible )

AND every successful trade needs both a buyer and a seller

so a 'singularity ' being a stock-picker might be an overall failure ( when sellers vanish from the market-place )

Agencies AI ... using a new artificial intelligence system that can generate, code and back test trading ideas.

Then you can still get hallucination – when the AI makes up its own facts. AI can also give inconsistent responses to the same prompt.

But the goal is to make the tech get better at catching its own errors, for instance, by asking it to double-check that the code it has written adheres to its own ideas.
