But I did at least post some figures. As a percentage of GDP, compared to every other country on earth bar four:

As a percentage of GDP (so, in a relative sense, just like I said) the united states is the 5th lowest importer in the world.
Aggregate/numerical total figures like you posted are almost meaningless in this context![]()
i had guessed the solar panels ( and some wind turbines ) would be very close to the finished complex ( or integrated into the complex , especially the solar panels/battery packs )The issue is usually that the bean counters override the engineers when push comes to shove.
The fact that they had to contend with a less than ideal substrate of almost pure sand, water table within two feet of the surface and situated in a flat area known for its tornadoes, hurricanes and flooding suggests a placement based on something other than engineering.
The placement of these data centres really should be right next to all those wind farms and solar arrays in Texas or Arizona.

interesting i would have thought China and India would have imported more ( did some value-adding and exported a hefty percentage of the imported goods )Compared to what pray tell?

Build back better?I suspect that 2026 will determine what the full impact of Trumps policies or midnight texts might have.
Does anyone understand what stimulus if any exists in the BBB.
Sounds like a Bloomberg and Citibank problem, not a Trump problem. The US banking system are jut not playing the games according to Trump rules.
If they can't bring the Indians in to the AmericanBusiness sphere, they will take the business into the Indian Sphere.
Next step will be to punish those companies that don't conform to trumps rules.

i am guessing he is hoping to bully/bribe private investment into infrastructure ( like data centers )Build back better?
In a somehat surpring move, the 2nd quarter GDP for Trump has been revised upwards from 3.3% to 3.8%.
Given that damn near every stat released seems to have post event revisions, it makes one wonder if they much use at all.
The fact that it was driven mainly by consumer spending is a bit concerning given all the other indicators on consumer debt limits, employment slowdown, and reduction in imports have been heading in the opposite direction.
maybe those extra rate cuts this year may not be on after all.

For a data centre, there'd be other considerations as well eg land cost, state and local taxation, availability of a workforce, data connectivity etc but given they're using huge amounts of electricity that would be a major factor in the choice of location. The placement of these data centres really should be right next to all those wind farms and solar arrays in Texas or Arizona.
am not so sure it will be Trump , more likely private equity ( and fund managers )As far as Im concerned its all connected to the US literally.
Jason Jacques seems to think Canada is on the trajectory of collapse. Are they all too delude to jump out of danger though?
Trump might pick up Canada for a song.
Half of Canada that is Alberta, Saskatchewan, British Columbia and Yukon. WEXIT!As far as Im concerned its all connected to the US literally.

There's a big albertan independence movement there, kind of like the western australian one here but much more serious. As far as Im concerned its all connected to the US literally.

Don't forget water in to your calculations, fresh, salt whatever even the ones that will not use water as their major coolant will still need decent amounts of it.For a data centre, there'd be other considerations as well eg land cost, state and local taxation, availability of a workforce, data connectivity etc but given they're using huge amounts of electricity that would be a major factor in the choice of location.
Average industrial electricity price by state as follows. Source = Electric Power Monthly, Energy Information Administration (US Govt), July 2025.
Figures are US cents per kWh inclusive of everything and are for industrial consumers specifically.
