I always treat medication as use only when really necessary. Its common sense.

Same here. Both Mrs and I, in our 60s are on no pharmaceuticals at all, save for analgesics if really necessary and only sparingly.

Always look to diet and lifestyle if anything is going on and that has always worked.

Look, if women take paracetamol everyday when pregnant, there would be some risks, like if they drunk 3 glasses of Scotch a day there would be risks, but to say that properly prescribed doses of paracetamol CAUSES autism is not backed up by the science.

There have been several attempts to make paracetamol prescription only, due to the side effects and suicide by overdose, but I have never heard of a link to autism.
The only link to medication while pregnant causing autism, was antibiotics. From memory, but no one has really identified the cause of the rapid increase in autism in children.

On the other hand being in Trumps position, may well give him access to a lot of info that isn't in the public domain and he has a history of not being able to keep quiet, so who knows.

The pharmaceutical companies wouldn't want it announced and autism is the fastest growing demand on the NDIS, something is causing the increase in autism.

The point was to warn people of potential risks. Anyone saying "its fine" is actually encouraging it despite it being a grey area right now.

Any professional that says "ignore it" needs to be fired. Either they are on a payroll or should not be allowed to practice medicine.

There obviously needs to be more studies.

My understanding is that autism is primarily genetic in origin.

These days there are less taboos on autistic people getting married and having children. Could that be a reason? Also the spectrum of autism seems to widening. More cases are being classified as autism when they once would not be.

Lots of factors feeding into this.

One needs to make a distinction between the rapid increase in Autism, and the rapid increase in the diagnoses of Autism.
My daughter is an Occupational Therapist who has spent some 13 years working in paediatric side of her profession.
Kids with disabilities, behavioural issues, FAS you name it.
She told me some years ago that for many of her cases with autism, it was not the child at fault, but the parents.
The kids are difficult to deal with, but not as much as the parents.
The parents are looking for a diagnosis of Autism to take away responsibility for their own poor parenting skills.
the kids ape their dysfunctional parents.
A doctor or other specialist can provide a diagnosis of Autism as much a case of treating the parents with mollification as much as treating the kids.

One needs to make a distinction between the rapid increase in Autism, and the rapid increase in the diagnoses of Autism.

This was addressed in the WH press conference. There are comparative community differences e.g. the Amish and Cuba (Paracetamol is too expensive so they don't use it). Also sheer numbers going from 1/20000 in 1970s to 1/31 now (I am using the higher numbers quoted). Autism has been recognised as condition since the 1940s.

I am only relaying information.

My opinion from experience is that the media polarises debates (the science) and lobby groups take advantage of that to get attention whereas the discussion amongst those few in the actual fields are far more agreeable and nuanced (scientific debate).
