The state of the economy at the street level

What can I do for my country,
Not what can my country do for me.
but not if the country is playing the serial victim game ( and that is what several nations are doing ) and several more are running 'puff , bluster and lie ' so you can't ever trust them

have seen several top-class citizens overwhelmed by professional parasites ( and that includes most unions )

I guess only time will tell if there will be one if it not there already.
my guesstimate is they have been in a ( real ) recession since just before C-19 .

and they will BS as long as they can when in a ( real ) depression ( or entrenched stagflation )

in fact by the start of 2020 i was already positioned for a major drop .. and then someone called it a virus crisis ( i saw scary signs as early as September 2019 and MOVED strategies and 'cashed up ' )

the problem with that strategy in the current scenario is the clearly displayed signs that 'winners will be picked ' giving the appearance of another K-shaped recovery ( while 50% of businesses crumble into dust )

so where do you invest .. in the likely favorites with insane(ly bad ) metrics , or good solid businesses likely to be regulated/taxed into extinction

Over the past three years, based on Treasury’s forecasts in the budget, Australia's economy has grown by 6 per cent; the population has increased by 6.3 per cent over that time.

Net Zero, just like that !
It's a problem worldwide and another factor as to why manufacturing will be difficult to ramp up; most of the young do the laborious work, and we're an aging population globally.

Actually 10y of this but covid "hit" hiding the figures a bit with a crash then some recovery, but we as individuals have been getting poorer for a decade.
So the voters asked for more...

No, it is not a worldwide problem, only our country had such a pathetic economic results in the last 3 years in the OECD's, yet did the LNP pointed that?
I sometimes wonder if they did not voluntarily let ALP win.
A dangerous game if millions alp voters are imported in coming years then even full economic and collapse will not be enough to shift the votes..
France, Germany, UK replay..

since they destroyed the National/Country party ( as an independent force ) they have become complacent , the Libs have nearly always been self-defeating at heart , all you need to know about is the extended Peter Slipper affair ( and the Dickson curse )

all you had to do is research the Campbell Newman saga , at state level

all the electable Libs and National Party jumped ship over a decade ago , the likes of Palmer , Katter , Chapman etc etc etc

almost a mirror of the UK playbook

i remember a couple of decades back an associate submitted a proposal to the electoral commission

he proposed that each ballot had an extra box on the ballot labeled none of the above !!

IF none of the above , won the most votes in that seat , the ballot would be called null and void and all interested parties would be invited to submit new candidates , for a new election( or by-election )

obviously that proposal was ignored

LOL we would be at the polls every second week.

if it stops the election of 'party hacks' it would be worth it

i note over the years a FEW members get elected by a simple majority ( more than 50% of the votes ) whether they are in a party or as an independent

we need more like that so the nation's best interests are looked after ( not selected mates )

It should be first past the post, preferences don't count. Albo saying he has a mandate when two thirds of the country didn't vote for his party is a joke.

it was about grade 10 math ( class ) that explained that issue in our electoral system ( where 25.5% of the vote could control the government by winning the majority of seats )

but the party system hasn't been abandoned , yet , so this is what we have for better or worse

and Albo is Albo ( the most electable ALP candidate ) interesting to see the Greens seem to have been decimated as well , will Federal policy change in this term ?

UK has a first past the past system and suffered a similar outcome, Labour less than a third and ended up with a massive majority, so I don't think that's the answer.

The great problem with our system is that very few actually understand how it works, basically voting as if it was a first past the post system... ie believing that they may waste their vote if they vote outside of the Majors.

The cause of this is twofold.

1/ the major parties perpetuating this notion.

2/ a complete and utter failure of the AEC to educate the public on how it works.

Also I believe that mandatory voting is both illiberal and forces the politically disengaged to make a decision they have no right to make.

@wayneL Sorry Wayne can't agree with you on the voting system.
It has to be the fairest around.
It doesn't a Rhodes Scholar to understand how preferential voting works.
For me I gave a minnow my first vote and then a major the 2nd, thus denying the major the $2.40 for that first vote.
It matters not a hoot what the minnow would like me to do with how I voted as I never follow a "How to Vote" card anyway.

You are the minority
