Where Have You Been Overseas?

I went to Aruba in May. Anyone else been there?

You know the Beach boys song "Aruba, Jamaica, ohh I wanna take ya"

That song was played everywhere I went. No sh*t!!

Nice place though alot of flying to get there, went to Hawaii, San Fran, Veags and Miami on the way - drank like a fish and had about a month of jetlag and 5kg weight gain.

My favourite place is probably Thailand, mainly cause of the food. They have good KFC there. Nah kidding the Thai food is great and cheap and the beaches and people are awesome.

Just a snappy list off the top of my head..

England
Greece (Crete)
Egypt (Hurgada, Port Said, Cairo, the Suez to Crete)
Russia (Vladivostok)

are you serious it was more expensive then london. when did you go there?

Definitely cheaper than london... went there in Jul 2002..
Stayed in a hotel (3.5 star) called the Neva, i think, 1 street back from the river, 10 min walk from the hermitage... $60 AUD per night...

Most food got from supermarkets... (that was quite an experience... as its all behind the counter, you have to do a lot of finger pointing...!)

London, Hyde Park Backpackers, was 20quid a night! what a jip!

Just adding to my favourite city list.... LISBON!

The Netherlands, UK, Ireland, Sweden, Belgium, Luxemburg, France, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Poland, Czech Republic, Dubai, Bahrain, South Africa, Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Brazil, Bolivia, Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Japan, India. But my favourite country is still Australia...

just stunning the boats and yachts all have helicopters, jet skis, they all nearly have 3,4 or five decks! it is quite amazing to see how much money is invested into there boats. the lifestyle there is waking up going to fancy restraunts every day and going to the beach! and then that is reapeated every day while they are crusing on there massive boats or in the luxury cars. :D

Wow a lot of travellers here!

My list

USA
Canada
Mexico
England
Scotland
Wales
Germany
Malyasia
Indonesia
Hong Kong
Mainland China
Singapore

Plus Mrs has been to

Switzerland
Austria
France
Italy
Thailand

OK Apart from Australia

Which of the places that you've been too were your favourites?

I've got a lot more places to see yet but my favourite places so far are:

SW England and Bavaria in Germany...and there's a lot to like about Canada too.
Mrs likes Switzerland.

Cheers

Certainly plenty of travellers here. .......It's my passion..........aaaaahhhhh!!!
Most interesting (in retrospect!) was the overland from UK to Aus in 1976.
England - Orient Express through Europe to Istanbul - Turkey - Iran - Afghanistan - Pakistan - India - Thailand - Hong Kong - Australia
What a blast - a trip that you couldn't do today, unless you were on a death wish. Afghanistan (particularly Herat) was a dream place - absolutely magic. (no, no drugs involved!!!) The Russians came in about 18 months later from memory and stopped that route!

As well as that extended travel, I can add:
Wales
Scotland
Austria
France
Italy
Switzerland
Greece and MANY of the Greek Islands (annually now - my favourite place on earth!)
Germany
Spain
Majorca
New Zealand
Singapore
Malaysia
Hungary
Romania
Bulgaria
Belgium
Holland
Jersey
Guernsey
Bahrain

Funnily enough - I have never had any desire to go to USA. I'd like to see the Colorado Canyon and the rockies - but that's about it!! Maybe I'd feel differently if I went. who knows - I may never find out!!

Always wanted to do the Trans Siberian Railway - but didn't manage that. Marriage and a different agenda stopped my world travelling short!
Resumed agenda last 5 years!!
Cheers.
