Warren Buffett Retires

Warren Buffett announced his retirement on Saturday 3rd May 2025 from Berkshire Hathaway.

This is really the end of an era, a great investor and business sage steps down. What a life. He will be missed.

and , a diplomat, focusing on his skillset, with a comment on Trump without mentioning the name.

He really leaves a conglomerate in the true meaning of the word behind him. Let's hope his successors manage well his legacy interests. I held BKRB until Trump began his tariff nonsense and may get back in at an appropriate price.

What does interest me atm. is who will leave BKRB as Warren steps down, who will be forced out and how Greg Abel will perform as CEO and Ajit Jain as head of Insurance.

Interesting times.

Such a big announcement, I am feeling a range of emotions, from sadness of seeing the end of a great era, to feeling proud of Warrens 60 years at the head of Berkshire Hathaway and everything he accomplished. To extreme confidence that Berkshire will be in great hands with Greg at the reins.

I think Warren loves Berkshire so much, that he wants a smooth transition, so is handing over the reins to Greg in an orderly fashion. How ever I believe, Warren will still be working for Berkshire until his last breath, but it is time for Greg to take some of the weight off the old boys shoulders.

Thank you Warren for everything you have done for us shareholders, and for being a great teacher, you changed my life in so many ways, and for that I will forever grateful. You have made me a better investor, but also in some ways a better person.

Here is a short video of the late Charlie Munger talking about Greg Abel, the guy that is taking over from Warren.

At he open the US market is not all that happy with BRK-B down 5.85%, improving to now down 5.5%. Early days yet, but it is a fractious time to see Warren planning a definite departure.
