Has the US been here before ? Yep in the mid 30's Fascism, Nazism and Authoritarian demagogues (Fr Chales Coughlin, Huey Long) were powerful voices in the US.

It Can't Happen Here was a novel that explored the possibility of am Authoritarian takeover of the US - exactly like what is happening now. Well worth checking out.

It Can't Happen Here is a 1935 dystopian political novel by the American author Sinclair Lewis.[1] Set in a fictionalized version of the 1930s United States, it follows an American politician, Berzelius "Buzz" Windrip, who quickly rises to power to become the country's first outright dictator (in allusion to Adolf Hitler's rise to power in Nazi Germany), and Doremus Jessup, a newspaper editor who sees Windrip's fascist policies for what they are ahead of time and who becomes Windrip's most ardent critic.

The novel was adapted into a play by Lewis and John C. Moffitt in 1936.[2]

Premise​

It Can't Happen Here was published during the heyday of fascism in Europe, which was reported on by Dorothy Thompson, Lewis's wife.[3] The novel describes the rise of Berzelius "Buzz" Windrip, a demagogue who is elected President of the United States, after fomenting fear and promising drastic economic and social reforms while promoting a return to patriotism and "traditional" values. After his election, Windrip takes complete control of the government via self-coup and imposes totalitarian rule with the help of a ruthless paramilitary force, in the manner of European fascists such as Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini. The novel's plot centers on journalist Doremus Jessup's opposition to the new regime and his subsequent struggle against it as part of a liberal rebellion.

The US Air Force is granting a full Military Funeral to Ashli Babbitt. Ashli was killed on January 6th 2020 by police defending Congress from the mob attempting to lynch the Vice President and stop the vote for the new Government. She was trying to overthrow the legitimate Government and was killed in that attempt.

And now under Trumps direction, the Air Force will give her a full Military Funeral with honours. How zucking sick is that.

How does this sit with Officers who serve in the Military and understand what their oath means ?

This proposal for military honors for an individual who did not live up to her oath is not about honoring service. It is about politics. It is about assuaging a politician’s base—a politician who never served a day in uniform, who never risked anything for his country, and who has shown no understanding of true sacrifice for others. To dress up the events of January 6th in the trappings of military honor is not patriotism. It is propaganda.

What's behind the baseless rumours that US President Donald Trump 'is dead'?

Donald Trump has been out of the public eye for a few days, and the internet has lost its mind over it.

THE INTERNET IS abuzz with chat on one topic and one topic only this morning: whether the 47th President of the United States, Donald J Trump, has died.

He hasn’t. The speculation seems to be based on three main factors: He hasn’t been out and about in public as normal since Wednesday, he was photographed with a bruise on his hand previously, and the White House flag is at half mast.

The White House flag is at half mast today as a mark of respect for the Minneapolis school shooting victims.

Trump has a clear official schedule for this weekend, but he is booked and busy again come Tuesday.

This week Trump met with the Abbey Gate families (relatives of Armed Forces members who were killed in a suicide bombing in Kabul four years ago).

He was videod and photographed at the engagement, and appeared very much alive.

It’s also very normal for a US president to not have any engagements scheduled on any given weekend, and Trump has been busy posting on Truth Social in the meantime.

Part of what has been fuelling the rumours, which have come about all in the space of three days, is the comments Vice President JD Vance made when he was asked by a reporter if he would step into Trump’s shoes should a tragedy take place.

Vance said that the President is in “good shape” but he did also say that should something awful happen, he could not think of any better “training for the job” than his experience as VP in the last 200 days.

It was a slightly unusual response, but it’s not unusual for Vance to say something unusual, and again, the idea is nothing out of the ordinary; Kamala Harris became President for 85 minutes when Joe Biden was under anesthesia for a routine colonoscopy (which, while we’re talking trivia, was the only time the US has ever had a woman acting as President).

So Donald Trump is not dead, according to every fact we have available to us.

It’s worth noting that these rumours are being pushed by fringe groups online in the first instance, and it’s likely that this cycle will repeat itself on other occasions when he takes a weekend away from public engagements.

Newsome will spend the next two years positioning himself to win the Democratic primary - then he'll pivot to being less crazy to win the presidential election (which won't happen because trump will be appointed for a 3rd term by Putin)

He's been dead against oil but has shifted position to saying California needs to start drilling and needs to ensure refineries stay in business.
