The ASX 200 logged another welcome gain, following on from Friday's dip-then-recovery. Investors cheered a further watering down of US tariff measures, this time on certain key tech goods. This helped Information Technology stocks lead the gains (+2.6%), with WiseTech Global (WTC) (+3.1%) and...www.marketindex.com.au
Where to today chaps and chapettes? An indolent copy of overseas would be my guess.US markets took a breather on Tuesday, with the major indexes posting slight declines as tariff volatility subsided and investors digested a fresh wave of corporate earnings.
The ASX is expected to open slightly higher this morning, mirroring Wall Street’s subdued finish. The SPI futures are pointing to a 3 point fall.
- WTI crude is trading 0.32% lower at US$61.33 a barrel.
- Spot gold is trading flat at US$3,230.69 an ounce.
- One Australian dollar is buying 63.37 US cents.
Key local earnings are due from Bank of Queensland, Iluka, Karoon Energy and Rio Tinto.

Gold stocks kept up their recent fine form with near-double digit gains in Genesis Minerals (GMD) (+8.4%) and Bellevue Gold (BGL) (+8.4%). The gold price tipped another record high overnight.
