1. Pick a number of times a week that you would like to eat out. (more than once but less than 10)
2. Multiply this number by 2.
3. Add 5.
4. Multiply by 50.
5. If you have had your birthday this year add 1758 if not then add 1757
6 Subtract the four digit year you were born. You should then have a three digit number.

The first digit was the original number of times you like to eat out in the week.

The next two numbers are your age.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is amazing. :cautious:

Now, how can I exploit this! :D

:confused:..eat 2x2=4+5=9x50 =450(born feb 1966)+1758=2208-1966=242

you do get the age but i wanted to eat just the once...good trick..

its pretty basic maths formulae..

not quite :confused:..eat 2x2=4+5=9x50 =450(born feb 1966)+1757=2207-1966=241

close,maybe it works if you havent had a birthday yet?good try

You added the wrong number tiogerboi.

If you have had your birthday this year add 1758

You have had you birthday this year... should've added 1758. :p:

By finding out someones age when they may not want you to know it or to find out if they are giving you their correct age. You give them the questions without telling them what you are working out, you can say you are telling their fortune.

It is only good for 2008. you'll need a new set of figures next year.

That's the same formula for how I pick my stocks! :eek:

Super trick! Will try out tomorrow.

Have a good week-end everyone! ;)

Amazing.

Can someone who understands maths explain how it works?

The limitations of points 1 and 5 control this equation. Try it with fictictious entries and check the result.
Like astrology -- a nonsense. But if you can enoy it at the nonsense level of course it is just fun.

Ah! Ye of little faith. Is astrology really a nonsense?

Well given that a lot of people make a lot of money out of it then maybe it does have meaning.
The best way to do this is practically of course. So if you want to send me a great big cheque [oh - might as well send your birthdate I guess] then I'll give you some glowing, positive generalisations that will prove enlightening....
Just call me a prophet!

While im no maths whiz, its the multiplication by 50 that does it. All the other numbers are relatively small, so this brings them all back to a 'mean' for lack of a better word

Not at all. You are "telling" the formula your birth date.

the limited variables for eating out are multiplied to give numbers between 2208 and 2908 in 100 increments.

Up to step 5 these are the possible results (for people who had their birthday)
2 =2208
3 =2308
4 =2408
5 =2508
6 =2608
7 =2708
8 =2808
7 =2908

And if you are over 99 this formula will not work.

((1*2)+5)*50+1757-1984 = 500+1757-1984 = 273

Way off the mark.
Iv got a few more years to go till I hit 73.
And I wanted to eat out just once a week :banghead:

Maybe I made a mistake somewhere :confused:

Number of times you eat out must be more than 1 and less than 10

It's pure maths.
Try abbreviating it:
1. Pick a number as before.
2. Multiply it by 100 and add 250.
Proceed as previously.
In a roundabout way you're adding on an extra 250 and taking it off [via your birth year] to hide the "trick".
Try it with any chosen number and any chosen birthdate - remembering you must be <100. Record your progress steps and compare them.
