I believe smoking cigarettes should be encouraged after an enjoyable root and when enjoying a beer in good company.
I further believe it should be encouraged after a good breakfast of hash browns, bacon, egg, snags, tomatoes and baked beans.
Also it should be encouraged in individual circumstances where a heightened sensation can be achieved by the addition of a quick fix of nicotine.
It is also sensible to have a smoke when danger has been averted, in war, after car and train smashes and when a missus or husband turns feral.
I realise many wowsers will disagree , but this is my opinion.

I am highly against smoking,
not only is it bad for the person smoking but what p*sses me off most is when you get an ignorant smoker who smokes right in front of your face and you cop all the passive smoke
i don't want lung cancer nor does smoking contribute positively to the environment!!
Yes Prospector, just like the old dears next door to you would prefer you to cover up when you go out of the house.
There are more old smokers than old doctors or old babes.
So dream on.

If that were the case, wouldn't you also have to apply the same levy to people who eat a lot of junk food, fail to exercise, drink excessive alcohol etc?
Totally agree!
Hope that one day ban will apply to suburbia too.
Would be nice to have cigarette smoke free gated secure suburb.
There will always be the great chasm between smokers and non
I'm a non have a great imitate life, enjoy low monthly payments for health insurance and have extra money for Chocolate!
Smokers are not always aware of how revolving it is as a non-smoker to passionately kiss a smoker. I did it once and never again. It was one of the most important factors which attracted me to my partner - not tasting the smoke or smelling it on his body or clothes.
Each to their own
Get down and dirty, mate, its quite good fun.

I feel so sorry for all those sad sausages heading off to the gym in the mornings to do their shoulders and knees in, when they could be having a gentle walk as I do.

If you are going to ingest stimulants, why not do something harder you pansy?
Have a go you mug!
It's not all bad, boundless energy, and great for keeping the body fat down. Just ask Cuzzy!
Kate Moss provides some inspiration on the topic http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-1093869/Whats-party-girl-Kate-Moss-popped-for.htmlIf you are going to ingest stimulants, why not do something harder you pansy?

Not for footy performance though.
A good point Green. I only smoke on occasions now, the smell off clothes is a put off all right.
However bacchanalia, orgies , casinos and pubs should be smoke allowed zones.
My point though , is, that it is not all bad.
Just as eating chocolates has its good points.
Passive chocs!!

OLDER adults who are starting to have problems with memory may benefit from small amounts of nicotine therapy, according to a US study.
The research in Neurology, the medical journal of the American Academy of Neurology, included 74 non-smokers with an average age of 76. Half were given a daily nicotine patch for six months, the other half wore a placebo patch.
Those on nicotine therapy showed better results on cognitive tests for attention, memory, as well as how fast and consistently they could process information.
After six months on the patch, the nicotine group "regained 46 per cent of normal performance for age on long-term memory, whereas the placebo group worsened by 26 per cent over the same time period," said the study's authors.
