Ye of little faith!

Santa will arrive. Santa might not arrive on time, and Santa's visit may be shorter than in previous years ... but he will arrive.

KH
but will he make a big splash , or a mere cameo appearance ?

assuming today finishes lower ( and that's not guaranteed) , the index can move a fair way in a few days

I'm geared up for a Santa rally. Even if it is a little one.
But I fear it won't happen.

Way too much negativity in the West and China is in deep trouble.

part of the Santa Rally demise , might be superannuation system investment is now spread over most of the year , no longer are June and December pivotal months for retail investment decisions
Looks as if Santa has arrived for me this morning ZIP and part holding of PLS SOLD Just waiting on BRN to complete the treble

The Chinese would have buggered off for the Chinese New Year holidays anyway at this time of year, so having them down crook with Covid will have little effect come late February.

The West is fairly resilient and these interest rate hikes imo won't make much difference to the markets once Northern Spring comes.

Contrarian maybe, but ...

The chance for a "Santa Rally" was slim to begin with, but despite today being another risk-off session in the Australian market, the ASX200 did manage to continue holding near its monthly pivot point around 7130.

The S&P500 did manage to bounce from its monthly S1 on Friday, and European futures are currently signalling a higher open today. All trading involves risk, but perhaps a positive lead from the overseas markets can help ignite some sort of holiday cheer for AU equities as well.

Any lead that gives our "follow the leader" ASX a lift is good. Waiting with bated breath for the DOW tonight.

well depending on which economic indicators watched some outlooks were gloomy

what will be interesting is , IF there is a late rally this week , will it be be broad-based , or focused buying ( and if so, which sectors are preferred )
