I recently opened a optionsxpress account with the intention of investing in some NYSE.

I was just curious to how it works with dividends, do NYSE stocks also have dividends like ASX stocks, and can I access them through optionsxpress?

Thanks.

Yes a lot of nyse companies pay dividends, I have no idea about optionsxpress though.

If you get paid a dividend, the USA will take about 25% of it in tax before you get it, however when you lodge your tax return in Australia they will take it into consideration that you have already paid tax on the dividend, so you effectively get a non refundable credit for it.

Sounds like your better off in a U.S. ETF or managed fund. I also have an options x press account with about 1000 bucks.
