MUSIC - What are ASF members listening to?

20 years old. First Columbia album (mainly covers; thanks John Hammond)

I think this young fella will go somewhere

I saw Bob Geldof, it was a very enjoyable night listening to his stories. He can still carry most of his vocal range when singing, with only the high notes breaking. He's still very passionate and makes a lot of sense. At one point he became very angry and used the word hate in such a way I thought of war and violence. But it is show and his point of view. Definitely worth going to, I might even go to another.

revisit.. 1979

A great live version, Bob's voice zings as he delivered the tongue twisters at speed, the band is great, rhythm section tight, lead guitar (not Knopfler) given space to soar, the griottes running with the beat.

Newgrass is a subgenre having it's time in the sun.

Billy Strings has broken into playing arenas ... and coming to Australia soon. Some of the live stuff gets a like from me

there are others

129 million downloads !!

But really, if he
... would walk five hundred miles
And I would walk five hundred more
Just to be the man who walked a thousand miles
To fall down at your door
wouldn't he just be back home at his place?

and mum's saying; " what's that all about?"

I always thought she lived next door and he had to go to the bottle o which was, yes, 500 miles, then he had to walk said distance back to get to her house, but he drank all the piss en route which is why he falls down at her door.
Pretty common outback mating ritual really.

Always thought this needed a proper recording not just a demo but I guess that's not to be:

This song was released 50 years ago. It's like a time capsule of an age before "hip hop" and other things had poisoned people's musical sensibilities. The sheer masculine intensity is incredible.
