Just heard a cover by Kasey Chambers, a live performance of an Eminem rap Lose Yourself.

Quite amazing.

getting back to the Music, it was true in the early days, pre '66, when the Beatles released a sigle, the Stones followed within a week. Andrew Loog Oldham!!

for me, starting with Beggars Banquet, the next few years / albums were the golden time for the Rolling Stones , reaching a peak at Exile on Main Street. Also, the live Get Your Ya-Yas Out was a more than accurate documentation of the (commercial) talent. Worth seeking out is the rest of their 3 hour performances of the USA tour, on a bootleg, because it is more pure blues. Good cover band! Various versions of Live'r Than You'll Be exist.

I am actually in awe of the the talent that can just blitz out some presentable music plus meaningful lyrics at will, often straight out of their a55 in about half an hour.

Bach is the earliest example that I know of, but in the modern era, there are several examples also.

Very humbling.
