Your credit union will almost certainly have a Swift code if you ask.

I tried to call them today on the advertised Aussie number within the timeframe - around 1PM - they didn't answer the phone ?

Is this normal with IB?

Why is it when I add XAO and XJO indices to my TWS screen I get no prices? I'm subscribed to asx data. Also, any charts of these indices are blank.

Thanks Trembling.

I swear in the past month I have seen prices for XAO and XJO. It seems a little odd that they don't provide prices for the indices.

What does AP stand for? I added it to TWS and it worked a treat.

Yeah they have them listed under their Index section and you can get them into TWS but the only ones that have data attached to them are AP & XFL (ASX50)??

Maybe someone needs to start a enquiry tick to see if they can turn on the data. They clearly have it setup ready to go

Actually what is interesting is that the ASX TICK & TRIN work This is a big surprise. I didn't even know the ASX had that as an index. Certainly no Aussie data supplier I have seen issue it.

(& AP is the SNFE symbol for the SPI, why they choose to make for XJO )

What is TICK and TRIN? Why is TICK showing -228 points fall

From investopedia TICK is,

The number of stocks trading on an uptick minus the number of stocks trading on a downtick.
This is a very short-term indicator. A positive tick index is good (the higher the better).

From investopedia TRIN or ARMS INDEX,

TICK is used by intraday traders alot in the US to gauge short term strength/weakness in a market. At first look the charts don't seem to be that helpful but you can get a good read out of them from time to time. Especially when compared with futs. For example if the market keeps on trying to break a range and the TICK is continually reaching extremes yet she just cannot get through its a good hint that theres a lot of hidden selling going on into that strength and we are likely to roll over.

Here is the an example, of sorts, When the SPI gaped up on Tuesday after the US the TICK hardly registered the same enthusiasm. Then she rolled over and had a nasty down day. Confirming the lack of early buying.

Thanks. Very interesting. Not sure it is immediately obvious what is leading what... but I think on rare occasions any significant divergences could provide some sort of opportunities.

Go IB! I spent a lot of time mid 09 trying to find a supplier of TRIN/TICK. Plenty of US stuff but none for Aus. They could very easily repackage and sell it to SPI traders for $50/month.

Lets see how well it works for the SPI. Time to dig out the old TRIN notes

How's that for timing. Last night I was reading how traders in the US use this data and thought it would be handy but didn't think there would be a provider I could get it off for the Aussie markets.

Thanks TH

Yes you are right one must always be careful of after the fact analysis. And of course I see them used to explain the the events after they happened nearly as many times as I see EW picking tops and bottoms 2 months after it happens.

Yes I'm sure they could flog that as a stand alone.

Thanks TH
All part of the services I provide to get more playing the futs

Cant believe this - no data for ASX stocks on IB!!

Rang Hong Kong for them to close trades, got onto support but he could not close any trades over phone until actual traders are at work so he suggested i call USA. So I call USA and they said no one is here at the moment that can close trades either. Market data has just come back on now - so that's about 12 mins of having open positions that can not be closed.

Not happy about that.

How does one get prices for ASX Index options on TWS?

I've tried entering the underlying (XJO) into option trader with no luck. I've even tried entering the full options code with no luck. What stupid thing am I doing wrong?

I just started the process of opening an account with IB but got stopped when it asked how many trades I had done. As I have not done 100 stock trades it won't let me continue. I read on a post somewhere that there is a test you can do to bypasss this issue. Does anyone have any info regarding this?

Test? Just say you've done 100 trades...

BAck to my question before; how can I list ASX index option prices on TWS?
