Hi, I work in WA in the mines and I do 12hr days. I have dabbled in the options market years ago, with mixed results, and i'd like to resume my trading, however I find I cant be in front of a pc at close of day. Im still working at that time (about 1.30pm WA time). Im not keen on giving my money to someone else to invest, so I was wondering what possible avenues there are to use what Ive learned to make money... any ideas? thx

How much time have you got? When can you study the Market and set your - conditional? - buy and sell orders? What would be your Plan by which to trade?

While it's a great start intending to take control of your own affairs, you'll need a realistic Trading Plan. Obviously, day-trading quick snips is out of the question. But you could use a market scan that identifies stocks with a high probability of starting a new trend. If you have such a scan from your earlier Trading Days, you may simply resume it and not spend more than 3-4 hours preparing a plan of attack.
However, since you ask the question, I suspect you don't yet have such a Plan. So you'll need to set aside a lot of lead time for study and development.

Overseas markets?
Scalp/day-trade a futures market for just a couple of hours (don't have to trade the whole session)?
One of the European equity indices, or one of the interest rate markets?
Even one of the US futures markets if you can work the night hours?
FX is not a preferred option of mine, but may suit you?
Overseas (US mainly) options markets?
Just some ideas.

Tough after a 12 hour day though. Good on you for wanting to do so.

I was going say what timmy said. But then I came up with this crazy notion that since you work in the mines your probably working of a 14 on 7 off roster. Work overseas during office hours and work the Aus on your days off. otherwise Employ your self a broker 24/7 because its sounds like your stuck between two rocks. Goodluck! :cautious:
