Hi There,

I need your help in recommending to me some good books on Gann. I am a beginner, therefore, it would be a great help to me if the level of expertise required is also mentioned.

I don't want the originals written by Gann himself but preferably from those authors who follow the original school of thought and not as propagated by his son Gann Jr.

Cheers

Quite a few years ago I found myself in a similar situation, beginner to Gann but wanting to learn a bit about his methods.
I bought Pattern, Price and Time by James Hyerczyk. It assumes no knowledge of Gann. I was very happy with this book.

I only attempted reading 1 Gann book was by Gerald Marisch, try a Google,

From flicking through the books by Gann himself, they are very strange, he often seems to talk in riddles.

How anyone can make head or tail of it, let alone trade with it is beyond me, but each to there own :)

Pager, I know what you mean by speaking in riddles etc. Just finding out about the Gann methods, let alone understanding them, I found very difficult. The Hyerczyk book was great in this respect, it was very straightforward and explained things clearly.

I dont' agree that he is difficult. I have his book "How to Make Profits in Commodities" 1951 Revised Edition by W D GANN, Lambert-Gann Publishing Co.,Inc. I refer to it often.

I am aware that in later life he shunned Wall Street and as a result many put him down. His systems for following seasonal, financial year and other cycles are very useful to the medium term speculator. Not in isolation of course but important to the serious student.

Instant gratification is just that, rewards come from long hard work.

This book I found ok

William Mclaren - Gann Made Easy - How to Trade Using the Methods of W.D. Gann

But I prefer the original material over these extrenal veiws on his work.
I have been through most of his books and courses and find the information in them very interesting. It was hard at first to get into how he wrote but if you take your time and reread pages / chapters a few times it all comes out.
I don't go much for the astro stuff but it was interesting to read about.

I also use the swing charts that he looked at, I find them nice and clean and easy to read, he did not invent them but his use of them was what I liked.

For more info there was a Yahoo group on gann with a lot of info available to download and study.
