AI revolution and the Australian economy

For anyone who thinks AI hasn't reached the stage it can actually replace humans, just have a listen to the following music.

This is not a real band from the 1980's and is not a recording of any actual live performance. It's AI.

It all looks and sounds entirely plausible. A distinctly 80's sound to it, an image of a singer that looks like a plausible photo from the era and so on.

Needless to say, if AI can produce authentic sounding 1980's music from an artist who never existed then it can very easily do all sorts of other things. We're now way beyond clearly fake videos of cartoonish cats riding bicycles and so on, it's already getting difficult to distinguish human output from AI.

The only thing AI can't do with that is a real live performance. That said, if the music's already written and the fame already achieved then it shouldn't be too hard to find someone to perform the role of singer and hire some session musos for the band.

Is this the start or end of creativity I wonder.

Milli Vanilli ??

Bjorn again?

I think the real issue is the sheer volume of output.

In the space of two months or so this AI "singer" has produced 100 or so songs which is more than most human artists manage in their entire career.

Now apply that to any other industry and the implications are huge. A full career's worth of work done in a couple of months. :2twocents

but can they sell ?

muzak , anybody

that mindless noise inflicted on people trapped in lifts

after all even Hunter Biden can create art ( if your friends are willing to buy it )

If you can do it all digitally why go through years perfecting singing and writing songs.
My ultimate fear is we lose ability. You can already see it across multiple industries.

However I think live entertainment will make a strong comeback. So that might be the saving grace

people will crave authenticity, and experience .

More change. All change.

that might be a big win for some bands ( no longer robbed by record deals ) but then , years back i was aware some bands performed for free to get exposure ( and cover fuel costs by selling CDs at the venue )

i have also seen some amazing solo acts ( with half the stage covered with electronic devices to enhance the performance )
