CMC and IG markets both seem to be good CFD providers. I personally have an account with CMC and I have no complaints.
I would avoid bank CFD providers as the comissions I have seen to date are huge comparably. One 'advantage' of IG is that they have a DMA pricing model vs CMC which are market makers (not that I have noticed a big difference).

I would have to disagree with you in that its an advantage to have DMA. When trading a derivative i prefer having the sythetic market provided by CMC rather than the DMA by IG.
In a synthetic market like that provided bye CMC you can set a stop loss while in a DMA platform you can't. This is a critical difference especially when trading CFD's when your positions are leveraged. its great when things are going well but when things go badly just a little it can really blow out.
Also i am not limited by the order flow as i am on a DMA platform. If there are only 10 shares available at the price i want on a DMA platform i can only buy 10 shares. On a synthetic model like CMC i can buy 100,000 shares, and becuase its a 'made up' market if i want to sell 100,000 shares i can sell them instantly. I do not have to wait to wait till there are enough people wanting to buy 100,000 shares to get out.
its all very complicated. There are a few books and recourses out there that explains the difference, advantages, disadvanges and how to use them to your advantage out there. the best i have found is from Guppytraders.com. Daryl Guppy really knows his stuff.

Herlequin what do you mean not being able to set a stop loss with DMA? you can place a stop loss no or are you referring to guaranteed stop losses?

From last night we can now trade international markets using our Australian CMC account. The following is from an email they sent me yesterday.
I haven't placed any orders but my account does have the option. Looks like an excuse to add US EOD to my Norgate subscription.

Anybody had experience bpaying funds into cmc account? Done it thursday, still not there.... should it take this long?
Yes but not recently. From memory it took a couple of days which isn't helpful if you need the money to trade.
It's likely nothing will update over the weekend so hopefully tomorrow being Monday.

You need to know your banks cut off time for processing...ie some are 2pm, majors are generally 6pm, if you do it after the processing time, it counts as having done it the following day (ie if you do it at 7pm thursday it is the same as if you did it Friday prior to 6pm) and will be with the other bank Monday.
