How to access shares on a different exchange?

Hi guys,

First and for most, I apologise if this is in the wrong section.

I am wondering I held some shares in an Australian company which was taken over by another company earlier this year. (Namely Andean by Gold Corp). I was out of the country when this occured and by default, my shares were transferred to Gold corp shares which I believe is now on the TSX.

I received the certificate that states that I have acquired X amount of Gold corp shares however I don't know how to access these shares?

Could anyone provide me with some suggestions on how I could go about doing this?

I had the same happen to me when some of my holdings were moved to a different Exchange, one that my original sponsoring broker doesn't trade.
I believe, the only solution is, we find ourselves a Broker that trades on the new Exchange. Sometimes, that may cost a bit more - especially if it means we have to enter a high-cost FSB contract. But the alternative is worse, in that we can't access our assets.

I would like to hear from some experienced members how they might have tackled it.

Yes that was the solution that I came up with but I would also like to know if there is an alternative because the broker I found charged through the roof just to deal with this.

Otherwise, do you or anyone else know of a reasonable broker that could do the job? And what sort of price do you think we are looking at for this sort of service?

I'm not going to even hint at broker names - because I don't know their credentials and don't want to do any DD for an area (TSX) that's irrelevant for me.
But when I google "toronto stock exchange broker", out jumps a swag of names that even includes online and discount brokers.
Over to you
