Trump 2.0

I have more left leaning friends than right, a few decades ago we debated with smiles on our faces. During the past few years that has changed, my left leaning friends have become mean, they purposefully look for comments that are hurtful to others with a different view, they make fun of them. The discussions are fewer but more malicious.
With three exceptions I now completely avoid discussing politics with friends, neighbours or anyone else.

People have just become far too "religious" about it all. :2twocents

Well, I suppose in various parts of the world politics and religion are rather in close lockstep - like the Middle East and I think India.

More and more the USA is becoming red and blue states though, so they can sort of avoid those they're not going to see eye to eye on.

With a little luck, just maybe his evil act will help the Republicans win 2028. Long way to go, though. If it was a few months before the election it might well seal the deal.

But I sense in your description a hint of the left trying to disown him. Oh but the left were hooting and hollering all over the place when it happened.

I'm just think it's sad.
No excuses.
He has taken a life and wasted his own.
Imagine being his Dad.

I don't agree with some of his views but it's fundamental to a functioning democracy that people ought be able to express their views in a civilised manner which to my understanding he was doing.

Same goes for the other end of the political spectrum. I don't agree with some of the issues they raise but absolutely they ought have the right to express their views in a civilised manner.

Society's going down a very slippery slope if the ability to openly discuss any subject without fear is gone. :2twocents
Yep. I don’t think you will find a post where I have said that he shouldn’t have had the freedom to express his views, or that I agree he should have been killed.

But the fact that he wouldn’t lose any sleep over other people’s children being killed in a shooting limits the empathy I feel for him.

I think its sad that it could have been a left or right loon trying to fight a war thats just not needed.
I wasn't sure if it was a white supremacist trying to mass recruit.

Or leftists trying to snuff out discourse.
I haven't even checked beyond this guys family is Republican.

There's a bunch of subgroups that are all dangerous right now as you only need one charismatic leader to cause society a bunch of damage.
Its actually bad in Australia. You can see the Melbourne NSA slowly picking up numbers.

Government needs to govern and not moralise and advocate for things not in the interests of Australians.

Did he say this directly?
Can you provide a couple of quotes to back up the character assassination?

I honestly don't really care about the dude. Dont have a problem with having no empathy for the situation. But it felt like there's a somewhat justification in your above posts.

There are people that say worse. There's a bunch of crazy idiots out there who attribute lies about him to things he actually said.

I've only seen minimal stuff about him.
But I've noticed a very large shift in your political views that are spreading out in real world action. Selling the Tesla shares at the worst possible time after Elon went maga was one.

Whats leading to the harder views politically, is it social media?

The kid's family is not especially relevant, right? Obviously he had certain creditworthy personal qualities of coolness under pressure, actual athleticism (see him scale down the building!), fine marksmanship, planning ability and so on, to actually pull it off, that meant he probably wasn't going to have been the 300 pound son of some crack ho who never knew his biological dad. But often bad fruit comes from a good tree. I highly doubt anyone on the right wants what he did, even if it does steer some of the undecided to the political right.

1. In the video below, Charlie is talking about gun deaths including all the children in school shootings, and he describes their deaths as “worth it” to protect gun freedoms. Now he is part of that statistic he claimed was worth it, it’s pretty simple.

2. So you don’t know how horrible his views were, maybe take a look at the second short video I linked where he say a 10 year old female rape victim should be forced to give birth rather than allow abortion.

3. My views haven’t really changed much at all, you probably just held misconceptions about me. I sold 50% of my Tesla shares when they tripled in value just based on value, I sold another 25% when it became clear Elon was going for the $50 Billion bonus, based on my opinion dilution and the fact that I wasn’t sure Elon was in it for the right reasons anymore. I sold the other 20% when Elon did the Nazi salute and the sales started tanking. And just recently sold the last few shares because I thought I would prefer to hold Berkshire and Costco.

I think its relevant for the exact reasons you mentioned. There are online recruiters from Islam, antifa, white supremacists, even countries etc that are grooming these guys.

They often are very capable from Republican families for this sort of stuff. If there's personality disorders and ideology getting mixed in, its a disaster.

At the moment I see the groyper movement name being thrown around which would make sense if he was pro maga at one stage. The groypers initially supported, then left Trump and despised Israel. Which lines up a bit with this guys beliefs. The antifascist messaging may have just been to throw people off. Nothing solid at this stage.

This is exactly what I mean. You took edited video. His stance on the rape was that all life is precious and he never advocated for killing.

I don't agree with his stance but from what I've seen its aligned with how he lived

I have followed it a tad and the stuff he had on his bullet casings makes me doubt that. But hey, I appreciate one can't completely dismiss such a possibility outright. A man's intentions are his own, and not always what they seem. The picture will be become clearer in time I expect. There's references to him have ongoing beef against Charlie though. Ideas about a conspiracy here seem fanciful IMHO.

Some such false flag type claims are just absurd though - like the one that the Trump sniper attempt was all staged so he just got a graze on the ear, or was fake blood etc.

Thats the difference between left and right i suppose. Its the accuracy of the aim.

Lol interesting heuristic. Anyway, the Americans usually release tapes on cop interviews in such cases, so hopefully the world may hear more from the horse's mouth. Good he didn't get to fully escape and pass into legend a la DB Cooper. Assuming he really is the actual guy, hopefully a prompt death penalty, not life imprisonment or an unending death row that lasts decades.

I don’t disagree that he believed and lived by the things he said, that’s why I am saying it’s kind of poetic that he died by gun violence and hence became part of the statistic he said was “Worth it”. They were his words not mine. Just incase you think deep down Charlie did feel empathy towards others, he public said empathy is damaging and a made up new age word.

I would say the same thing if some one that campaigned against having rules for drink driving was killed by a drunk driver.

Don’t mistake any thing I say though for me being happy he was killed, I don’t agree with gun violence, and I wish the USA would bring in more rational gun regulations.

I think it doesn't take away from the fact we are now celebrating people's deaths.
I get not liking, or not really having empathy. But actively cheering means complete dissociation from normal thinking.

This was a speech issue. I don't really care what he said, if it was wrong due to him inciting violence then arrest or whatever, but killing is insanity.

The cheering was sickening though. There's a difference between not liking someone's views and hating that person because of their views. I hate heaps of people views on here but I like them as humans. I also love stirring the sht when I get the chance so I bet they love me as well.

I don’t the majority of people that were against Charlie Kirk are cheering, this psychologist explains exactly what I am feeling and what most on the left are feeling in this situation.

We just aren’t buying into the whole “don’t speak ill of the dead” or “this man should be honoured because he was a father” etc etc

We knew he was a shitty person before he died, we know he wouldn’t give a crap if it was just another school shooting, as the psychologist says it’s normal if sometimes your empathy tank runs dry for people that never give empathy to others.
