It's Raining

We got about the same, roughly 15-20mm. It will give the capeweed a nice boost.

The last 3 days have almost been sun Arctic with a very cold East to Nth Easterly wind.
Today is no different except that there has been a bit of patchy drizzle.
Some showers are forecast later on this afternoon and evening.
With the current temp at 21.5C it feels more like about 10 or 11.

Had a bit of rain today 8.5mm but not like anything that was forecast. Over the next week the forecast is for the June average.
I hope that will not be the case. It is far too much on ground that is just starting to soften.
The last thing we need is fencing washed away and dams filled with top soil.
On a happier note, the green tinge is starting to come through which makes it easy on the eye.

It would be good if BOM employees actually stuck their collective heads out of a window and had a look at the wind and cloud direction.
To date their collective forecasting efforts are nothing short of dismal.
When we had 3 days of North Easterly winds and rain/storm clouds coming in from the North West there wasn't much hope of much rain, but they kept forecasting rain events.
I prefer to look at the ant nests to see how high they build the dirt up around the nest.
The higher the mound the better the chance of some decent rainfall.
At the moment they are pretty static.

it would appear that due to chronic lack of interest the weather forecast for us today is being substantially reduced if not cancelled.
Very limited precipitation has fallen since 3pm, only just enough to wet the ground.

Finally a bit of winter weather here today. Looks as if it will be a good day to stay indoors and keep the home fire burning.🔥

Yep this is actually what you call rain, might finally get some water flowing through the rapids.

She Who is Never Wrong just reported that the overnight and early morning rain amounted to 17.5 mm.
Just need a little bit more, as the saying goes.
Not that I am a whinging farmer, of course!!!

We do need a lot more.

The weather is not very enticing to be outside, one short squall after another, so I may just partake of a short kip.

We had a bit of rain 3 days ago, enough to make for a warm humid night but clear skies since and temps dropping.

Along with being a bit on the cool side so far this morning, the God's have started to squeeze a lemon as it is just spitting outside at the moment. Not even enough to wet the ground.
With a forecast of 0-4mm there is not too much to get excited about today;s forecast.

It is just as well that BOM aren't paid for accurate forecasting.
Today's effort was 0-4 mmm. We actually received 9.5mm
Very welcome rainfall but some accuracy would be helpful.
The red mat ants have a far better indication of what is coming.
They started building their nest exterior wall up to a height that they reckon will help keep the water out of the nest.
The one that I looked at this morning was about 30mm high, enough to withstand about 25mm of rain.

We got bugger all down here. ½mm maybe.

@farmerge and @wayneL . I hope you get some rain soon. Here in Townsville we've had a few drops at night and it's overcast during the day with a reasonable southerly wind still. Hopefully that will give yo guys some rain as well.

Though BOM couldn't forecast rain as it is falling, we did get 9.5 mm yesterday, a vast improvement on the forecast amount.
A couple of cool to cold dry days with whatever via BOM forecasts for a few days following.

A healthy drop of rain is falling at present.
As is BOM's usual forecast, way offline with a 0-4mm chance.
So far 8.6mm and more to come tonight.
Tomorrow may be their day of redemption as the cold front looks pretty impressive.
The meat ants were as expected right on the money.
