Civil unrest seems to be kicking off in several countries worldwide, we have the situation in France, the UK (Sept 13 will be interesting there with Tommy Robinson's Unite the Kingdom rally, here and elsewhere.

I'm starting to see the genesis of a "raise the colours" campaign here... Have spotted a few Australian flags flying at random places on lamp posts and whatnot in my travels.

Now Nepal over social media bans etc.

Are people starting to resist the encroaching tyranny across the world?

 
World is getting scary. We have let the down the new generations. it is meant to be better in the future, not worse.

I get scared about this raise the colours stuff. We have in Australia, in the past treated flag waving as something forced on us, with disdain.
Now we have flag waving patriots with unsubtle agendas.
 
Is it simply by design?
The leftist narrative was pushed past the point that most on that side of politics saw as reasonable.
Was it all just amplification to demonise either side?

We are now seeing "nazis" in rallies on the right. A few online were exposed as frauds already.
Seems like purposeful division tactics that filters through into the mainstream.

I saw left leaners calling for citizenship laws being amended to kick people out (that nazi guy sewell). I remember similar for the terrorists that fought with Isis by the right.

Meanwhile government gets tighter control
 
Agents provocateur is a well documented government tactic, as is inordinate focus on so called Nazis. These are very few in number in the broad scene of things, but they are useful to paint all demonstrations as such.

I know quite a few people who participated in the march for Australia a couple of weekends ago, just ordinary folk concerned about the direction our country is going. Nazis, or even right wing, they are not.

Another place heating up is Ireland. Presidential elections are coming up and Connor McGregor looks too be on track for the win due to concerns there.

Oh yeah, there are lots of us (yes me too ), but it's a matter of what company I want to keep and Nazis aren't among them.

I prefer the traditional methods like writing to the politicians, which I have done, and if enough of us do that they will get the message.

Unfortunately our political system is stuffed because of our voting rules. Only people in marginal seats get heard, the rest can go jump.
 
Its probably just ineptitude. Im giving the government too much credit.

My experience with government agencies is they cannot come up with solutions to complex problems and constantly pass the buck.
Flooding people in to deal with gdp probably looks good in the comfort of an office. Not in the actual real world.
 
I'm not one to go to these either, an exercise in futility IMO, unless trying to start some sort of revolution... and that sort of thing usually has unintended consequences.

I find writing letters futile also, once elected they don't give a crap.

The only answer is the vote, but even that, only results in which ideological tribe gets in power and ultimately betrays us.... Unless some charismatic leader comes along and inspires us all.

And there is Buckley's chance of that in the current environment.
 
Trying to think of a politician who inspires me.
Damn that brick wall just got in the way.

I see it as part of my overall theory that we're presently living through what will in future be regarded as a major turning point.

Last one was the 1970's with key themes being, in no particular order:

End of US Dollar ties to gold.

Rise of environmentalism.

Major change in attitudes toward women.

Rise in the soft sciences and associated professions and industries / decline in the hard sciences and associated professions and industries. This is the big one, we shifted away from manufacturing, production in general, hard sciences and so on and ramped up areas such as litigation, marketing, political optics and so on.

Broad shift in the West from production to consumption.

Broad shift from "society" to "individual" in terms of thinking and focus.

I define those as major trends in that they influenced practically everything. You can spot them in anything from the trade balance of major countries through to popular music, from major infrastructure construction through to universities. The "signature" of those broad shifts affected practically everything, it's hard to find even one example of something that wasn't touched by it in some way.

My view is we're now in the midst of another turning point of comparable magnitude. One that will manifest in multiple broad categories, each of which will influence everything just as the last major shift did.

At present I don't think it's at all clear what the new situation will be beyond saying it's a given it'll involve a firm rejection of the previous era - that's the old "oppositions don't win elections, governments lose them" scenario playing out. It's not that there's an outright embrace of the new so much as there's a rejection of the old.

So that's saying fiat currencies, soft sciences and thinking, individualism, consumption, environmentalism and feminism are all likely to see rejection in their present form. That doesn't mean they cease to exist, but it means they lose the unquestioned authority and influence they've had.

The left want Price's rise nipped in the bud, anything she says anywhere can and will be used against her. Lol
They know that she is the only person from the Coalition who can get any traction, the rest are a rabble and being indigenous the loonies have to be careful, so best to knobble her early. Lol

I worry about this to some degree.
Although its more likely a foreign invader thats more organised, with the target population already disillusioned with the current government.

Just offer better to the working class and you can waltz in.
