The completely useless irrelevant thread

I haven't been near a river for quite a while, although when we had 90mm in two hours recently, the nearby creek overflowed

Since my house is on a ridge, almost 4km from the nearest body of water and 70 meters in elevation above it, I'll worry about flooding if I have to wave to Noah as he floats past.

Our farm is not that far from the highest point in the eastern darling Scarp, or so i am told.
The fear of paddock flooding is negliable and Noah floating past nigh on impossible.

You'll probably be waving to a certain foreign culture as they "march" past, in any near future Apocalypse.

One of my browsers has a weather app. it keeps on giving me the Temperature in Oslo, which is 15C atm. in case anyone was wondering. I can't change it. I even went to Oslo and then back home to Townsville but it still gives me Oslo.

The Anglo-Zanzibar War of 1896, the shortest war in history, lasted 38 minutes. British forces bombarded Zanzibar's Sultanate Palace after a new sultan tried to defy British colonial influence. The palace was set ablaze, the sultan's forces surrendered, and the British installed a pro-British sultan, ending the conflict almost as soon as it began.

Just thought you should all know: p

Autumn temperatures in Norway see a significant drop from summer highs, though this varies significantly by location. In the south, such as Oslo, average temperatures can be around 6°C in October,
and all downhill after that.

There are now a record 900 American billionaires which means 500 American billionaires are too poor to make this year’s Forbes 400.

UBS estimates that the number of millionaire American households increased 1.5% last year. For some, the American dream is alive and well..

Still, the American middle class shrank from 61% of the population in 1971 to 51% in 2023. Those who fell out of this cohort did not fall up.
